Rear noise when back and forward in parking.
Hello, all
My model is 2013 F10 535i RWD. When I am parking the car in the parking lot, the noise occurred. The sound is recored like the below. Rear break pad, disk, flexible joint are replaced and normal. If there is anyone who knows the root cause. Please help me to find out. Thanks Faust5 |

Which "flexible joints" are you talking about? The rear suspension in these cars has many.
The main rear ball joint is #13, but there are ball joints on the knuckle ends of #4 and #11 as well. #17 controls the rotation of the knuckle relative to the lower control arm. To be honest, it sounds like the brakes to me. My wife's e90 has made similar noises from the rear since replacing the pads/rotors a few years ago. They grind like that when coming to a stop or just starting, especially when they're cold. They work fine once moving, just noisy when first backing out of the driveway. The engine idles higher when cold too, which puts more torque on the brakes when moving at idle and adds to the problem. |
