drivetrain malfunction, low boost fault
I returned from a two week trip and when driving the car and trying to accelerate on the highway from a ramp, I get this drivetrain malfunction message on my 2013 535i xdrive. Tells me to drive moderately... blah blah... Anyway, I drive at 55mph and arrive home. Next day, I start the car and drive it and it drives normally, without any issue. I take it to the BMW dealer and they read the codes and tell me that there was a low boost fault but it should not happen again. They test drove the car and checked pressures, etc. Everything worked out apparently. They are charging me $200 for the diagnosis that nothing is wrong with the car.
I am still worried that something is wrong and that they did not diagnose it correctly. The same dealership recently replaced my valve cover gasket and valve cover. Also recently replaced the water pump and expansion tank. Could something they did on those repairs have caused the drivetrain malfunction issue? Thanks for any input you can provide. |

So, my SA says that I should drive it and if the DTM message pops up, I will need to replace the boost solenoid (pressure convertor). Any idea what this costs? Thanks

Thanks for your response. I hope that message NEVER pops up again for my driving another 4 years at least... at which point, I will sell the car.

Thanks for suggesting a DIY... but I am not very mechanical and am apprehensive that I may cause more issues... So, if the issue crops up again, I will get the dealership to fix it for me.
