Final “special” ICE car - What are you Buying as the end is here!
I think with the new emissions requirement of 49mpg by 2026 - the end is here for pure ICE cars. Even the new Mustang is rumored to be a hybrid only if you want a V8!
The issue is so many ppl are realizing this and rushing to buy their dream cars which is inflating demand when the supply is already low due to parts/labor shortages etc. What pure ICE cars / trucks / SUVs are you considering that are new for sale or that are coming out in the near future? Do you have a deposit? how hard are they to get? What are the dealers asking over MSRP? These are NEW cars that I’m personally excited to drive and potentially own: 1. C8 Z06 - deposit placed, 3-4yr wait 2. Mustang Mach 1 - order placed, eta unknown. Ppl that placed orders in 2021 still haven’t got their production dates. 3. BMW M2 - might be the last great ICE BMW. Hope it looks great as it will have normal grills, Manual transmission and RWD only. 4. Nissan Z - love the design. Waiting to see reviews and hopefully drive one. 5. Toyota GR86 - If all else fails, will pick one up before they get cancelled. 6. LC500 - Hope they release a cool version with Performance package. 7. 911 - Multiple deposits, doesn’t look promising for a new one unless you want to pay $50k + over MSRP. 8. MB AMG GT - this will be coupe version of the SL coming out soon. 9. GRMN Supra - Manual Supra using M3 engine. I’m sure these will be impossible to get. 10. Dodge Challenger - I’m sure they are doing something crazy for the final versions set for 2023. 11. Lotus Emira - Looks cool There are too many used cars to list that I like but those you can get at anytime, wanted to focus on new cars and their availability.

I'm 8 months in on my 2022 X6M comp. I thought I'd have at least one more before they killed the ICE. I'm already getting questionnaires from BMW about a hybrid 6 cylinder instead of the V8. If that's the case when my lease is up in 2024, I'll just buy this. Pretty sad actually.

Have to wait and see what else is announced/released, but hoping for 3 out of 3:
BRZ/GR86 Z Nismo GR Corolla BRZ/GR86 will be first but we're holding off for a bit to see if there are any changes/other editions for MY23. Will probably bump the Corolla ahead of the Z since there's nothing official on a Nismo model yet. The Toyota dealership that I'm working with didn't want a deposit on the Corolla until they have official info and price from Toyota. Love the Emira as well but only interested in the V6, and I don't want to spend that much on any 1 car right now. |

I think few people, if any, are rusing out to buy ice cars today because of some rule that goes into effect in 4 years.

Turbo diesel Suburban. Should be here next month. That, the M2's, and a few vintage rides and I'm set for electrification!!

Have you been on Bring a Trailer or Facebook Marketplace recently? People aren't necessarily buying because of any specific rule, but the rhetoric and constant headlines of countries announcing policies (whether they'll actually be enacted or not) is enough to scare enthusiasts into buying what they want while they still can. If you don't think that's happening I'd like some more of whatever you're smoking.

GT4RS but I'll probably never get one unless they ever come down to MSRP pricing. I have a 392 Wrangler XR on order that I've been waiting on for 5 months now. Hemi engine in a Wrangler is definitely something that will never be made again once this production run stops. Currently have a Ferrari FF as my fun car, the V12 is epic and gets a solid 10mpg on a good day, worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that 49 mpg figure an AVERAGE across the lineup? So theoretically you can have a bunch of EVs and a naturally aspirated W16 gas guzzling monster in your lineup and still meet the requirement. So I don't think the end of ICE cars is really as close as you might think.
In any case, I have a G80 M3 on order which I HOPEUFLLY get delivered this year.

GR Corolla or GR86, for the daily driver
Only one car would rip me away from the Z4M and that's an Evora S

1) Mach 1
2) C7 Corvette 3) Camaro ZL1 TBH I tried buying all of those. The mach 1 I had on order for 5 months and then Ford decided its not longer telling people about build dates. You’ll know the week of your build. That combined with the factory having an indefinite shut down meant that I started looking for something else. The C7 the prices are stupid. They were less new in many cases. I just have an aversion to getting ripped off like that. The ZL1 just has been a nightmare to get ahold of. I’ve tried on numerous occasions to try and get a test drive to see if I wanted to order one, but keep getting shot down. That’s how I ended up here. I was actually testing driving a c7 and saw a Sakir M4. On the lot and ended finding they were much more reasonable deals and I LOVED the color. So I ordered a 2019 off carmax. |

Have kept holding out for another M5, trying to time it for just this reason. But I think I waited too long. The line started to flicker last summer with the removal of wireless charging. Not a big deal, but then B&W followed. Now longstanding color options are gone along with Tartufo. The M8 fares a bit better. If I'm not mistaken, it even has some new color options (I don't watch it as closely as the M5). However, I just don't see things going back to normal for ICE and M. Those who ordered/received in the past year picked the perfect moment I think.

New Mustang is rumored to be V8 hybrid. Next gen 911 will most likely be a hybrid. Cayman and Macan will be fully EV. Even Dodge is getting rid of Hellcat etc after 2023. What ICE cars will there be in 2026? |

Really?
All the articles I have read most are guessing they carry over an updated 5.0L for the GT. Maybe a hybrid option using 3.5L ecoboost hybrid in the Aviator. Last edited by M3WC; 04-07-2022 at 02:55 PM.. |

No most recent reports with spy shots are leaning to V8 remaining but with either a mild hybrid or high hybrid which would be AWD.

i have my gt3 so i'm set. Still thinking of selling my manual f80 for something with a V8 even thought it might be auto/dct. or maybe a manual supra if that comes out.
i'm also hoping GM makes good on their promise to pump out C8s by the boatload. They definitely have the ability to out produce all the exotics and 911s combined on a yearly basis. that should help bring prices down.

Considering the current GT hp of 450, if V8 hybrid power is true that would probably put a GT in 500hp range...that is nuts. Considering price doesn't increase significantly from $36k.
