F10 535 Road Trip MPG

Pretty darn impressive in my opinion. Bothell WA to Spokane Valley, through Snoqualmie Pass on I-90.

Had the cruise mostly set on 84.

It really does! Just amazing. I had never used the Eco mode, as driving around the PNW I always have it in sport for the responsiveness. But on a road trip why not use Eco once you have the cruise set.

Thoroughly impressed!

lol 749 miles imagine that!

In Comfort mode I regularly get 32.5 on highway trips in my 2015 535i RWD. This car does everything well.

749? Dang! Highest projected range I had was 699 on a trip from DC to Richmond VA.

Wow you guys are so lucky! Here in California, I usually average between 24 and 27mpg in my 640i rwd (pretty much the same car as the 535i). And that’s crushing between 80 and 87 mph. Occasionally 90. The max I’ve seen range wise is 460 miles.

I wonder if something is off? Or is it the terrain?

My numbers are from road trips. My 535i gets about what you get in normal city/freeway driving. I'm also in the PRK with our crappy gas. I do much better with Top Tier fuel; around 50 miles more per tank. Terrain does have a negative effect and I believe the 6 weighs more than the 5 (I'm married so I'm probably wrong ).

I'll join the party, although in the subcategory for #2 diesel… nice mileage and all those torques!

Do you get a difference between Shell/Chevron/Costco?

Not the last time I checked. But that was years ago when Costco went Top Tier. My 500+ run was from Pecos, TX to Tucson. The fuel I used was from a truck stop; Pilot, I believe.

Another North American 535d XDrive (530d) here. I'm super impressed with this car as it's a big heavy AWD beast and even in Ottawa winters averages between 7-8 L/100km (29-32 mpg) in every day driving. This diesel seems nearly un-phased by cold weather.

My best highway average was 5.6 L/100 km (42 mpg), but that was in winter and wasn't pure highway driving. I haven't gone on a long summer highway trip yet.

Curious what you guys are seeing with the 535i for average daily driving mileage, not highway? The diesel is not as refined as the gas engine and I always wonder if the mileage trade off is worth it.

I get 25 on my 2012 535i. Average speed is ~30mph both city and highway. Not sure how good is that but I'm not complaining, I love the car to be honest.
