AC Headache
I have been searching the posts for AC problems and have not found any that fit my circumstance. Please give me a pass if I have missed a relevant post and direct me to any posts.
I have a 2011 F10 535i XDrive sedan. It has a 162k on it. I have really enjoyed putting the last 90k miles on it. Recently my AC has stopped working. I thought the system ran low on refrigerent so I had it recharged. I read somewhere that if the high side can not make a pressure threshold that the compressor will be shut down to protect the system. Dispite the successful recharge the compressor clutch will not engage. The environmental control panel seems to work fine. The fan cycles up with the appropriate conditions like engaging AC Max. It seems to throttle temperature for heat. ***The curious thing is that I can not read any error codes regarding the environmental system.*** One thing that comes to mind is that the environmental control module is shot. Any thoughts? Recommendations, part numbers, actual part names would be appreciated. There just dosent seem to be too much out there on this topic. Thanks for your thoughts on the matter. |

To start with it doesn't have clutches.
If you plan on digging into this yourself then here are a couple links that will help greatly. For part numbers: www.realoem.com For repair, troubleshooting, etc.: www.newtis.info Also a helpful pointer, get something that can specifically read BMW codes. Generic readers give generic codes, if any at all. |

Thanks for the two links wcr3d. These will be very helpful.
I have the Bluetooth enabled BimmerLink app for my phone as well as the Bavarian Technic Basic Kit (http://www.bavariantechnic.com/). Both yield the same results as far as I have been able to determine. Are these the type of readers you had in mind? Neither yielded any codes. I stopped in at my favorite independent BMW shop. They could not pull any codes either and suggested the dealer. Im not ready to concede defete quite yet. I checked all the fuses for the climate control. They were all intact. |
