So, great car for what it is, and damn good value for money. But on a regular track day in the U.S. at a HPDE now? Spec Miata's are behind you flashing the lights for you to get out of the way. Shawn |

Last time on track I saw one of these, a 2004 Audi S4 laid a pretty equal driver completely out at VIR. Like it was sitting still. This is VIR, which has three nearly half mile straights. Both drivers were instructors. Pretty sure the CTR driver was disappointed. The KBB value on the S4 is $6,500. And he had a cage, and I'm sure a tune, and Nitto NT01's. I didn't see the CTR. Just sayin', if speed/dollar is the issue, the CTR is great, but still murdered by competitive cars in the class. Again, don't get me wrong. Somebody wants to hand me one, I'm in. Shawn |

On. A. Big. Track. Yeah higher speed cars with longer wheelbase and hp/torque are going to do better there. A tuned S4 can easily be pumping out upwards of 400tq.

There's no doubt that the car is the pinnacle of FWD performance. I just wish they ran a stock production car for their claims as there are so many people out there that think that's representative of a stock Civic Type R. At the end of the day this car is best on a track like the Nurburgring because on the street it's just another high powered FWD car that has issues putting its power down in anything but ideal conditions.

Maybe it'll grow on me but there's something about it that leaves me feeling nothing. The overall design is so frumpy and I've never liked that style of wing. The hatch slope is pretty ugly as well. The front bumper and wheels are nice. That's about all I like about it.

Well, still 2 as the bumper is half the fender.
Actually 4, looks like the lower sill and lower 3rd fender are separate. |

The sloping forehead look isn't pretty in photos but in person is less noticeable. The spoiler kind of looks aftermarket tacked on. Still much better looking than last gen.

I think most enthusiasts know if they want, they can buy a used car and dump a bunch of money in it and have it perform as well or better than new car..........around a track. But you lose a lot of other advantages by doing so. I could build a really fast Fox-body Mustang for less than $20k........but I'd also be driving a car designed in the early-80s, off a platform designed in the 70s that wouldn't have any modern conveniences. |

If those leaks are to be believed, this car is much more attractive than the previous gen. Gotta agree with previous posters that the hood looks bad in pics but isn't bad IRL on current cars.
My SA still said that he's holding out for a dual-clutch offering. Guess we'll see! Super happy they went with a machined-upright style wing instead of the massive Subaru WRX STI wang.

I get where y'all are coming from with older cars competing with relatively similar track times.
But to be honest, I don't imagine anyone who wants a Type R would choose a car from the 2000s over this 2023 because of lap times.
