BMW 2010 heater vents no air when AC turned on

Guys I'm hoping some of you can point me in the right direction. My wife's new to her 2010 BMW 530d has a problem with its heating fan speed.
With the AC turned off the fan blows fully through all vents and works 100%. If the AC is turned on lovely cold air comes from the vents for about 20 seconds. After this you can hear the fan running still at full speed but also hear a heater flap/door closing which stops all air coming out of the vents.
As soon as the AC is turned off again full speed returns immediately and the air is very cold for 30 seconds after which it blows normal temperature air but still at full speed.
Has anybody came across anything like this before. Thanks in advance. Thomas

Hi, no it's not low charge, it's a fully charged brand new registered battery.

Not the battery, the a/c system. Refrigerant will leach out over time.

Have you tried to readdress/relearn flap motors using ISTA? maybe they just lost calibration?

Guys thanks for your input. I was wrong, my brand new battery was not fully charged as I assumed. I checked with Carly which showed no codes. But when I checked with Bimmerlink it brought up

801253
eKMV: Power reduction in cooling or
heating operation through power
management

I checked the battery again through Bimmerlink and it was only 67% charged. I've now fully charged the battery and the AC and heater is now working 100%.

Time and time again with BMW check the battery. I assumed it was fully charged it was not, lesson learned.

I read a few years back that putting the battery on a charger/maintainer once a month or so will greatly increase the battery's life. Glad you found your problem
