Upgrade sound system
Hello everyone,
I got a used F10 2015 (Hong Kong) last week and i want to upgrade the sound system - i checked vincode found that my car don't have any sound system and i would like to upgrade to Harman Kardon 15 speakers package Several questions: - Is it possible for my car upagrade to HK speakers ? - Do i need to upgrade the amp as well ? Can i use the existing amp &wiring? - Any amp recommndations ? Is Match worthy to be considered? how is it comparing with HK or Bavsound? - do you have any other recommendations? . Many thanks Last edited by rayemail; 07-11-2022 at 10:14 PM.. |

You can upgrade to HK audio. You will have to run some extra wires for additional speakers in the rear doors. You will also have to run optic cables to the amp. Also have to run a new power cable and cooling fan. HK will allow you to adjust equalizer in iDrive menu.
Your easiest way out is to go with match or bavsound. They are pretty much plug and play. Match amp can adjust the equalizer from my understanding. Bavsound is not adjustable. |

One thing to keep in mind is on cars with basic sound system, your rear door panels are missing the speakers. So you will have to get new door cards as well as add the wiring to door in order to do a full HK retrofit

You wont be able to see anything HK in your idrive as the head unit controls that. Best route is to upgrade the speaks and maybe amp as HOA mentioned. Running fiber and replacing speakers you don't have cutouts for is difficult. Only true way to experiece the HK is to replace head unit and replace eveything else as well. It will cost more than your car is worth.
