Crankshaft Position Sensor
So this morning my 2011 550i N63 cranked unusually longer before starting then I got a Drivetrain Malfunction and Chassis Stability Malfunction. Dsc and xdrive malfunction. Pulled codes P0335 and P0727. Where is the crankshaft position sensor located?

Thanks
Much appreciated. If that's the case I might have a bigger issue because that area has always had a little antifreeze leak. I wonder if the sensor got shorted.

Possible. Also your other code is for the throttle position sensor. Not sure if 1 would have something to do with the other. Best to get the Bmw specific codes. Would better help the situation and point you in the right direction.

When I looked it up the BMW error code list for P0727 Read Engine Speed Input Circuit No Signal. So the middle prong of my crankshaft sensor was totally melted and stuck inside the brittle harness. I ended up ordering part number BMW- 12517567686, which I will use to splice to repair mine. Turns out it's a conversion adapter to allow older BMWs to use the newer style cranksensor. Also I found another sensor just below the crankshaft sensor that has the typical push socket. But this socket also had a black cap on top of it that spins freely even, when attached to this sensor.I marked it 3. It's right under the crankshaft sensor. Is it supposed to spin and what sensor is that attached to the tranny?

follow up.
So after getting a new crankshaft sensor and splicing in a new harness. The car idles fine but threw codes PO727 and P0370. I went back rechecked my work, did an oil change, cinched up the sensor a bit tighter as it had a new neoprene green gasket. Sure enough codes cleared and thus far car is running as it did before with a quick turn over at start up.

Hi there,
I've got Code P11c5 on my BMW 528i xi 2012. The BMW fault code p11c5 indicates an issue with the crankshaft position actuator. Help! does anyone know the location of the crankshaft position actuator or sensor? thanking you in advance. |
