Looking at 2013 535i xDrive with 108K miles - comments on things to check?
Hi all,
I am looking at picking this car up, its my cousins neighbors. Suburban owned/driven and the guy probably about 55-60 and always serviced it at BMW when needed, has some maintenance records. Car runs nice and no CELs etc. Clean title, no accidents. I am just curious what should I be looking out for with this mileage? I did have a 2008 335i xdrive back in the day. Appreciate any help. Thanks! |

Interestingly enough, you could be describing my car. 2013 535xi, with 120k miles. Always maintained, and no major issues and no accidents. I've owned the car since new, and what I've had done over the years is as follows:
- A/C condensor replaced - 2 x CV axles / joints replaced - thermostat housing replaced - waterpump replaced - transmission flush - valve cover replaced - lower front suspension parts that are prone to wear replaced (I'd have to dig up records to be more specific) - driver's side door lock actuator replaced - rear guibo / flex disc x 2 That's it. Also the usual brakes, oil changes, etc. I'm still on the original dynamic shocks & sway bars. No engine issues at all. Normal oil consumption. Some wear on the driver's inside door handle.

Thanks for the couple responses so far.
I am going to see the car and see what records he actually has. He has owned it the last 6 and 1/2 years. He put new tires on it a couple months ago - so that's good. Brakes he said were done a little bit before he bought it at 50K miles (now at 108) - what are people getting out of the brakes - I would think they probably need to be done soon. Saw Powerstop kit is like $570 online, plus labor. I figure another $700 probably in labor? He said the previous owner had replaced the water pump and some gaskets - I figure valve cover gaskets? The guy is a fairly high level individual for a company - this was his daily. He always had services done at our local BMW dealer. So would be great to see if he has those records or I can even call BMW dealer as they would have them saved. Would be nice to see if he had any suspension stuff done - control arms, CV axles/joints, etc. Anything I should specifically look for or ask would be great. I am debating between this and a 2014 Audi A6 3.0t - they hold their value more - the BMW is a good bit cheaper. Even was looking at MMR and auction numbers. |
