My 530d xDrive F11 with 464 M Performance wheels (and lock bolts max lenght)
Hi everyone,
I just bought a set of staggered BMW 464 M Performance rims for my 530d xDrive F11. They should be there at the beginning of next week. They'll be equipped with Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tires that got in this morning. Those tires look great : Label states E/B/70dB and comment look good too on Tirerack: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Vr...ac-Vorti_2.htm. I'll tell you know how they ride). I'm glad I leave the runflat stock tires for theses brand new shoes that tricked me at the Geneva auto show. I'm also glad that it's the first mod with more up to come. I'm now thinking about buying a set of 12mm spacers for the front axis and 20mm spacers for the rear. Wheels specs are : Front : 8.5Jx20 ET 33 (245/35/20) Rear : 9Jx20 ET 44 (275/30/20) My car is not lowered yet but I'm clearly thinking about doing it some day. Swalsh2333's 550i looks great on those rims : http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=909064 He used 10mm front spacers and 20mm rear spacers. I've read that we shouldn't use 10mm spacers on our BMW because of vibration it might generate and that 12mm is recommended. (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...-Wheel-Spacers) What size / thickness would you get ? Isn't 20mm rear to agressive ? Doesn't look that way on swalsh2333's car but... Also, I should buy a new set of longer lock bolts because of the spacers. I saw a set of 4 McGard M14x1.25 with a 48mm length that should be ok with 20mm spacers. (Ref. 27231SUB: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0048EJOOC) My question is: Can I use the same 48mm bolts at the front or do I need to buy another set of 4 McGard M14x1.25 with a shorter length (as Ref. 27230SUB: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0048EJOO2) ? Regards, V1. Last edited by VodkaOne; 06-25-2014 at 02:22 PM.. |

Great looking OEM wheels you got there. Looking forward to pics of them on the car.

Stock bolts are about 26mm or so on average, so just add whatever spacer thickness to that number when picking out bolts.

Hi,
Thanks remmib. Can't wait to see them ! An thank you VMRWheels for your answer. Do you think that the 48mm rear lock bolts will fit in the front or will they be too long ? |

I'd be very careful trying those long bolt with only 10 or 12mm spacers.

If your spacers are 21mm or so, it's probably fine, however if you're using 12mm spacers with bolts that long, you'll likely run into problems and could potentially damage your hub.

20" M Performance 464 M
Hello,
I finally washed my car (but not waxed yet). Hope you'll like what you see. BTW, the ride is so much better now without the runflat tires. When looking for new wheels, I couldn't find much reports of members that went from 18" to 20" so here are mine, going from ROF 18" (245/45) to 20" (245/35, 275/30) : - Front wheels feel much lighter for the same overall wheel weight. I don't feel the heavy weight of the front wheels when going over bumps or small pot holes anymore. And that's a huge improvement. For the first km / miles it felt so much softer that I disliked how the direction felt, it was a lot softer. But that feeling went away after few miles. That was mainly due to the new tires I guess. - Going less than 90 km/h (60 MPH), the ride is much better in term of comfort. - Over 110 km/h (70 MPH), the ride is less comfortable over long rides. You can feel the small deformations of the road and that's a bit annoying over time but I don't mind that much. Here are the pics : |

Hi Remmib,
A Google search on the ref. number (see the pic) say they are "Ferricgrey". To my eyes I would say they're bi-color. And I guess they only exist in "Ferricgrey" and "Liquid black". Good day |

Yes, looks like ferricgrey and bicolor are the same for those wheels.
