Update: Replacing the starter motor relay did not solve the problem. Solenoid still sticks during cold start up. Next step would be to replace the starter solenoid. I am hoping I don't have to replace the whole starter since it is difficult to get it out of there.
Let's see if I can just unbolt the solenoid from the starter motor and replace it with a new one. |

Three starter motors in six years with only 53K miles; C'mon Man!?! The dealership obviously agreed, and thus offered the discount... In 2017, I paid $505 total (again, 50% off) for parts & labor. For reference, ECS Tuning is currently selling the OEM starter for $616. If I had to do it again today, I'd have the job done at a local independent shop. Hope this helps.

Is the battery new? I have a 550ix 2011, there were no problems with the starter... although when I assembled the engine, I installed a new one, as well as a generator, so as not to have to climb into the car again |
