Heat Exchanger Bolts Torque Specs
I replaced head exchanger gasket 7 months ago and now noticed trace of oil leaks. At the time I reused existing bolts (M8X20) because I had ordered wrong ones (M8X25, other heat exchanger type) and needed to get the job done at that time.
For those with ISTA and Service Repair Manual I have two question before I proceed to fix oil leak. 1). What is torque specs for item #10 (prevoiusly used torque chart shown). 2). Is manual telling us to reuse the bolts or new ones are must per manual. Thanks in advance. Regards Last edited by Conserve; 03-03-2024 at 07:12 PM.. |

Unspec Thank You for your respond. I am going to monitor it now and if it continues to leak I will replace gasket with OEM ones. Because I double check torque specs and it is right-on and with that it leaves me to think is the gasket.

I just got this gasket and the OFHG and I have watched and read it must be done very carefully, thankfully on my car it has been replaced already at around 40k however I am waiting for the day to see the leak appear from around that area. Hope you got it all taken care of!
