Car Died Completely

2011 528i , turned on the car this morning without an issue, put it in reverse and the entire thing just turned off … not slowly, I mean rapidly and it has NO POWER. I tried to jump start it with one of those small portable jump starters. The car lights turn on, it cranks and then suddenly dies 100% again.

The car usually indicates when someone is wrong, there was no warning this time.

Waiting to test battery and possibly replace, but I never received a battery issue light on the dashboard?

The only thing that came up was a TPMS malfunction about 2 weeks ago and it has stayed on.

Any ideas!?

At 12.56 volts, it's not the battery. On an AGM battery, that's over 80% charge.

After a battery test, this was the result.

And not battery cable... Seems to go bad on early models. I replaced mine just before failure.

Does the tester say why it should be replaced?

I'd say it's the SOH (state of health). 64% is only 2/3 of it's capacity.

Seems to me, if that's the reason, it's about selling batteries. That should not have caused the OP's car to shutdown.

Update!

I have replaced the battery, programmed it using BimmerLink, and the car has not failed yet.

Although I’m still skeptical, not sure how/why a battery would cause an issue like that on a running vehicle.

I have cleared all codes & will scan again soon to see if anything pops up.
