Just bought used bmw from dealer. Help
Hi all. Today i bought my first bmw. It’s a 2017 g30. My last car was a Volvo v40 but was looking to upgrade to something bigger and originally was set on a s90 with the bowers and Wilkins sound system but nothing was available i liked, in fact only 1 car in the whole country so recently the g30 came up for sale close to me and with the bowers and Wilkins system, when i went to see it i fell in love and bought it.
I told the dealer i was actually looking for a Volvo for a while but seeing as this also had the bowers and Wilkins systems i thought i would come and have a look as i really had my heart set on this system as i have it in my home set up. Now to be honest i was a little underwhelmed when i heard it, even though it does sound nice, the rest of the car swung it for me, and i knew i could play with setting and get it sounding better, there didn’t seem to be much gain in performance from half volume to full it was the first thing. But here’s the thing… When i go into sound setting i can just see base , treble, front rear, left right bias etc, so after work i thought i would google search to see what i could do, and on doing that i see people recommending the settings but have a bowers and Wilkins tone equaliser to do this. So now im thinking maybe these speakers were retro fitted as i only have basic equaliser settings?! Id be very disappointed if this was the case, as it was the main reason for going to see the car and it was advertised as have a b&w system. Can any one help, got thoughts or maybe im just missing something? Thanks! |

Congrats on the new purchase. B&W will have equalizer. If you are unsure of the options, run a VIN decoder and see if it have option 6F1. HK and B&W have rear door speakers.
Option 676 - HiFi 250W 12 Speaker Option 688 - HK 600W 16 Speaker Option 6F1 - B&W 1400W 16 Speaker |
