2013 535xi N55 Overheating

Car started overheating one day upon start up, not throwing any codes or leaking any fluids. right as I turn on the car the gauge flys up immediately. (Only) The water pump was replaced about 6 months ago not the thermostat. anyone have insight on this issue?

It was done by a pretty well known shop that specializes in euro cars in my city but I don’t know which water pump they used to replace it. I’m kind of steering towards the issue being the thermostat since that was forsure not replaced but then again I’m barely learning about these cars.

The thermostat is a "while you're in there" replacement as it's "attached" to the water pump; a reputable shop should know that. Additionally, BMW's are pretty picky about the brand of water pump used; can't just install a generic water pump.
