BMW 530d GT VideoTest by Autojunk
Well, to be honest, I didn't understand a word of this review. Its just not my language. I don't even know if they liked it or hated it. The body language of the presenter (along with the music) makes me think that the reviewer in the end found the car to be lacking in some facet. But the video is of high quality, certainly shows the car from some very interesting angles and gets some great shots of the interior. Features of the car that defy language barriers certainly seep through and overall, I found the video enjoyable. If you are interested in this car, take a click over to autojunk for the video: http://www.abhd.nl/video/bmw-530d-gt/ or http://www.autojunk.nl/2009/10/bmw-530d-gt-2. For anyone that speaks Dutch, an accompanying writeup is available here: http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2009/...d-gran-turismo |

Short summary:
- He makes a comparison to the E36 Compact (calls the 5 GT a "7 series Compact"), VW Golf Plus and weird looking hatchbacks like the Opel Signum and Renault Vel Satis. - The GT is very spacious and luxurious (the press car was fully loaded with options) - Damping of the rear suspension not very forgiving on speed bumps (unfortunately we have way too many of those in the Netherlands). - Straight line performance with the current engine lineup (245 hp 530d GT up to 407hp 550i) obviously very good. The car drives very well but feels large and heavy, doesn't shrink when pushed hard in the twisties. - Good value for money, based on 7 series but much lower in price. - He doesn't really like the styling of the car, compares buying the 5 GT over of the 7 series to dating the average looking girl over the hot chick in high school because the former is easier to reach. In the end that's not what makes him really happy . |

LoL why do i see a explosive growth of Dutch Movies on bimmerpost.com.
Not that i dont like it, i can understand it. But the majority is EN/US speaking hehe. Is it that we dutch make such good movies, and spyshots.nl some good spots? And Femme thats a very good write up of the autoblog movie! my compliments. Greetz |

could you imagine taking delivery and discovers after a week that "hey, this aint my kind of ride?" I'd ring the salesman a new a$$ for selling me the wrong car for my needs if you know where i'm going with this.
Interesting trunk set up...how many golf bags does that hold because it looks like by the video it only holds one adult male. |

I'm not ready for this car today - but in 20 years' time it may be the perfect car. Roomy / comfy / multi-rear functionality. Think this is a vehicle that may resonate w/ retiring Boomers (golfing, anyone?) as being easier to get in to than a std sedan, more upright seating; and no need for the height of an SUV. With a Sports pkg should handle better w/ lower center of gravity. If you never go off-road, which makes more sense: something like this (or a Touring) or an X5? IMO the most unnecessary product in BMW's product line is the X6 (don't get me started on the X6 M!), I mean, a SUV (sorry, SAV ) + coupe roofline = compromised internal packaging for a large vehicle. I have been in dealers and heard prospective buyers talk and 'pose value' is a big reason this car exists. The video was good: w/ the smattering of English + some German I know I was able to follow a fair bit of it, but my god, Dutch is guttural!
