I read it yesterday @ autoblog.com...never drive or see it in the real world but other review make me confident about it (in my opinion it's a good unique car)

The part that I COMPLETELY agree with is the part about the throttle tip-in. The first 5 series I drove was my friend's 03 540i M Sport and that thing SCREAMED (as they said in the article about the e34 5 series) and that was one reason I was excited to get my 550 M Sport... only to realize that the tip-in is just as they described it on the GT. Sure, I can put it in sport mode which starts it in 1st gear as opposed to Drive which starts in 2nd, but that only affects the acceleration and not the tip-in.
I want it to be as if a friend were to drive my car and press the gas and just be completely stunned by it (which always happened in my friend's 540 but has not happened to the same degree with my 550). Guess it's time for a Sprint Booster! |

SPANK!
Glad to know I'm not the only BMW fan that can't understand the GT. Ugly, overweight, and ponderous are not attributes of a dancing partner, nor should they be of a BMW The 5er Touring make so much more sense for those who want executive-class driving and need room for luggage (AND you can get one with a proper manual transmission).
Hey, BMW - give the GT to China, give the USA the Touring. If you don't, expect these pigs to lay about, unsold on the dealer lots for months and months to come. Last edited by DieselDog; 04-29-2010 at 08:02 AM.. Reason: typo |

I rather drive a 5-series Sedan or an X5. I think that the money spent on products like the X6 and the GT should be spent on cars like the upcoming X3 and 3-series to make them better and more affordable.

Buddy please! I could own a GT and more, the point is I rather choose NOT to get a 5 GT since it's ugly. I don't do ugly cars. I'm sorry if your standards are lower than mine.

Vaido, I agree with you! This is BMW #7 for me, and it is arguably one of the best that I have owned. To those who don't like the GT so be it, but I gurantee you BMW will not discontinue this model based on the grumblings of those "who are not" the intended market demographic anyway.

Put it this way the dealers in the South Florida region aren't discounting the GT, for the most part they are going for full MSRP. The only current incentive that I know of is 2.9% financing.
There is not a surplus of GT's sitting on dealer lots here. Only the "base" models appear to be hard to move.

My mom just bought one of these. Her previous car was the X5 4.8 and she's had three 7 series's, 2 5 series's and test drove the new 7 series. This 550GT is by far the most comfortable, easy to drive BMW she has ever owned. It's surprisingly fast and could probably give my 335i a good run. The interior is the most beautiful BMW's ever put out and the orion silver paint (champagne) on ivory interior can't get any more classy.

If you look at 5 GT from the car seat level, the car (both head and tail) is really cool and beautiful!! Interesting! There is no wonder you will find it appealing when 5 GT takes over you on the road.

it looks bad in picture. I saw one turn in front of me in all black... omg... i was impressed. Yes it was a 550iGT and this dude was bumping his music hard (really feeling himself) it looked really good in person... especially sitting from another seat.. Always looks bad in pics.
