In the U.S., the Sport Package is purely cosmetic. So it shouldn't matter performance-wise assuming it was a U.S.-spec car. All of the suspension changes are in separate packages.

My estimate:
535 - 5.4-5.6sec 550 - 4.7-4.9 (especially with sport 8-speed) Last edited by AndreyATC; 05-14-2010 at 08:55 PM.. |

Initially you are correct however try to build one without the sport package and it will make a difference or I am going to have someones arse for jacking me on my order!
You must order Sport Package (ZSP) with Handling Package (ZDH). With that said the 332 rims are the biggest indicator imo for ZSP and clearly this car does not have 332's. If that is the case they drove a 550i without: top speed increase electronic damping control active roll stabilization adaptive drive But there is more! You must order 2VH with ZDH ... so ... add integral active steering In essence, driving a 550i without the sport package is like, well, not driving a 550i at all. Rock on MotorTrend!

EDC and ARS should really be part of the Sport Package. I couldn't care less about the Adaptive Drive. |

tells you that this particular 550i does not have the Dynamic Handling Package or any of the included options since none of the ZDH options are available separately. Conclusion: Motor Trend drove an F10 with none of the new suspension technology that promises to make the car a World Beater and you may safely disregard anything they said about the handling if, like me, you are going with ZDH. I feel better now. |

@ Enigma1
At 65mph the idea of adaptive drive seems unnecessary but an understanding of it coupled with prolonged driving at 110-130mph on curving roadways causes me to really be interested in its body roll elimination.

Also, this car is equipped with the full camera package that is "not available" until September production for US models. It's likely some sort of pre-production model. |

Even for a "quickie," Motor Trend's review is an embarrassment. |

I like my steering linear so that I know exactly what the wheels do instead of a computer deciding it for me. By the way, consider yourself lucky that you are allowed to drive 110-130 mph. If we drove anywhere near it in the US, we would be behind bars. We definitely need to import the Autobahn along with the cars. |

From BMW:
"The proven effectiveness of BMW's innovative chassis control systems, Dynamic Drive and Variable Damper Control (VDC) work closely together to deliver an outstandingly smooth ride and enhanced agility. Sensors in your BMW permanently monitor vehicle speed, steering-wheel position and the pitch and yaw forces acting on the chassis. Using this data, the system precisely adjusts the stabilisers and the dampers, changing their settings quickly and accurately. This coordinated interaction of dampers and stabilisers counteracts the forces that cause the body to roll or sway. Your BMW hugs the road, delivers neutral self-steering behaviour, outstanding agility and shorter braking distances." For me, I am looking for the best drive I can get at prolonged high speeds and braking, these performance / handling oriented options are what I am looking for in my BMW. I couldnt imagine owning a 535 or 550 with an eternal speed limit of 65mph, unnatural.

I think the idea of a minor assist in handling from the back wheels is brilliant. When I take a long sloping turns at over 100mph I cant wait to notice it.
Can you link a review on the IAS that was negative, I personally have heard good stuff about it from current drivers. I imagine most nay sayers may be trying to justify not wanting to pay for it but I put my money where countless hours of engineering thought has been invested.
