For the Album Cover display..........a question.
I normally run a split screen with the nav system on the right hand side. I get the cover display in the top right hand corner of the IPod screeen. On page 16 of this document, it shows a bigger Album picture to the right and still looks to be the split screen. How do you do that? Thanks |

when you push the iDrive knob to the right it should bring you to an option called Split screen display options (or something like that). That is where you set what is displayed, either the Nav screen, Entertainment details (which gives the larger album art) etc...

Thanks kscarrol,
I tried this last night and it worked. I had been to the entertainment detials before but did not realize that you have to wait a few seconds for the larger artwork to show up on the right side of the split screen. The bigger album is not as clear as what BMW shows in their announcements, but that could be due to not having saved the artwork at the highest level detail in my IPod. I have an older version of the classic. Still in a learning mode with all this new technology...........I'm getting there. |

Thanks to all,
Am relieved to hear that my older IPod is the culprit for the lack of a clarity on the larger album. I am indeed looking into a newer IPOD, just can't decide if I want the 16G Nano or the newer version of the classic. (Nay downside to having the huge hardrive in the classic...maybe slower?) Although I have kept up with the IPod software updates on my older classic, I cant seem to get the "Genius" to show up on it or the I-Drive. (As some of the Combox articles show) Althought I downloaded it to my main computer, I suspect once again that this is due to not having the latest type of IPod. One other question. When using a regular CD in the single CD player, does it ever have the capacity to read the album artist? I've only tried one, but get the "unknown" Artist and Track. Do some CD's have the capacity to display this info? Thanks agian for the help. |

Never played with the Genius function on the car so can't help there...
As for CD's, I exclusively use the iPod or Sirius in the car so no expert. Only if the data is on the disc. For store bought CD's, they must come with the data written on the disc by the manufacturer but I'm not sure how much this is done by the industry. Home-made CD's will require you to add the information but I am no expert on this. Someone else will have to chime in...
