3M product applying on the car
My dealer told me that when you pick up the car they can use 3m product on it which makes it stainless inside and outside with 4 years of warranty.
How much is your dealer's offer? mine's $598 Any experience with this kind of product? |

Can you be more specific? Do you mean the paint shield (clear bra) or interior scotch guard, or something else?

I always shy away from these products as they are hugely profitable to the dealer. Unless this is some new idea/product, it sounds like a wax/sealant for the exterior and a some type of sealant for the leather and carpet interior. You can do this yourself for a lot less than $598!

Sounds like Scotch Guard on the interior for sure! Unless you are going to trash your interior, and view the interior portion of that fee (say $250) as being a good deal when compared to constant shampooing and detailing....I would pass on it.
+1 on kscarrol's comment....these are pure money grabs on the part of the dealer. |

Save your money for sure. I wouldn't call it exactly worthless but all these "protection" products they try to sell you only serve their bottom line and they are way overpriced for what they are. Now, the 3M shield (plastic film over the paint on the front end of your car) is a worthy protection but that alone would cost the $598 they are quoting you or more. If it is the 3M shield they are talking about then $598 is a reasonable price for it.

Ditto. Profit, profit profit for a $20 wax job and a $15 can of spray-on fabric protector.
It is disgraceful the games that some retailers play.

Yeah waste of money. I bot a can of scotchguard and applied it to the floormats and the trunk the first week I got the car. Cost - $7.
I got the Venturesheild clear bra, but it's much more expensive, and you can tailor it to what you want protected. |

It's a bit similar to asking how much does a suit cost. It really depends on what you want, there are many different configurations. I have the bumper, headlights, foglights and side mirrors covered. With tax included I paid, $600.

yeah Im on the fence on the bra thing too. I heard lumar offers a product which is 10 times better than 3m. No distortion crystal clear. But my 04 530i was eat up with rock chips so looking forward no chips would bring more on a resale for sure.
