Upgrading existing HUD with post March one?
I wonder if this will be possible. Out of all features on this car the HUD tops the list for me. Also I didn't get the camera or feature that captures speed limits to show on the HUD, can this be added as an aftermarket or from the dealer?

If you are asking whether hud can be added post production I would very very much doubt it.

Speedlimit can be added here in Denmark - for sure.
My friend had it done, and my dealer is doing it for me when my F11 arrives. In DK all that can be added post production will. Thats due to the taxes here. |

I would guess (and this is just a guess) that you probably could upgrade to the new color HUD. From the looks of realOEM, the module can probably be removed out the top of the dash, although the dealer might also have to remove the instruement cluster for access as well. If it can be done....be prepared for the price tag. This has to be an expensive piece of equipment.

My car has the HUD in it. But it does not display speed limits, it would be nice to be able to add that feature. Do you have any details on that? What exactly they added, how much?

Blackhawk, do you know for a fact that US spec cars with the HUD that are here in the EU will receive > interpret > display the speed limits?

Yes they do. A buddy of mine has a fully loaded 528 (silly I know), and his does display speed limits on the HUD. Something to do with a camera I. The front some where. I'm inclined to thing is part of the cruise control feature, but not sure.

Yea, its one of two things I would do differently if I were to order again, one of them would be the HUD, you know how it is here in Europe, sometimes your just not 100% sure its unrestricted, speed limits can be like exit ramps ... VERY far apart.

I don't know man, I don't have the "automatic high beam" feature, it just has the rain sensor that I highly doubt is a camera at all. |

I can answer the rain sensor portion. It is located behind your rear view mirror assembly attached to the windshield glass. If I remember the specifics correctly, it is a little IR sensor that sends a signal out from the glass and if there is rain, the water refracts that signal back to the sensor. You are correct, it is not a camera.

OK your right. I checked on realOEM.com. It is a different camera for Speed limit detection/lane departure warning. So unless you have lane departure warning you would need to replace the camera and a camera control box.
From what I could see the wires is the same so it might not be too bad. On the other hand, i doubt it would be worth the cost. I have the option and it is not very reliable. |
