Which tires for 520D ?
Drove 25000 kms with my 520D SE and my tires (225/55/R17 Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFT) need to be replaced already.
Wear level is still very much ok but sidewall is unevenly worn (stair pattern) resulting in a lot of noise and (in my opinion) even more fuzzy steering. At this point, it is not clear if the uneven wear is due to bad geometry or to the tires themselves. Which tires should I go for ? I'm driving 90% on highways, mostly unhindered. 130-140 km/h. I'm considering ditching the RFTs and buying regular tires with a mobility kit instead. Here are several options : Bridgestone Turanza ER300 Ecopia 97 W - 161 EUR Uniroyal Rainsport2 101 W - 163 EUR Goodyear EAGLE NCT5 101W - 165 EUR Continental Premiumcontact2 97 Y - 182 EUR Michelin Primacy HP 97 W - 185 EUR Michelin Primacy HP 101 W - 215 EUR Besides, I'd be interested to know if anyone of you encountered the same problem with Pirelli RFTs. |

If changing to NON run flats then Michelin Primacy HP 101 W off your list, if sticking with run flats I am using Good Year Excellence 225/55/17 and they are wearing well. No noises or other issues so far (7000 miles).
If you do ditch the run flats I would be interested in your opinion of how the car handles etc. |

Well i orderede my F11 520 sport auto with NRFT (tubless7 regular tyres) 225/55 R17.
It was a fight to let the dealer order the car with regular tyres... I have the Continental Premiumcontact2 97 Y and i´m very pleased with them. Confort, sportivity, braking and performance in rain. Excellente Average of fuel 7,6 l I have 13000 Km and they are 50 %. |
