In the beginning Ford got a lot of issues to make their electric power unit (MGU-K) work together with the Red Bull combustion engine.
If the Benz PU has the higher compression ratio trick , it means that their battery will be faster charged up to 100%.
And that means that their MOM (manual override mode) is faster ready for the next overtake attempt.
If a car is still in a period of battery charging and it has another car behind him with a battery at 100%. That car has zero chance vs the car behind him.
Just imagine the crazy situation : Your cars battery is drained and down to 500 HP and the car behind you runs at full power with 1,000 HP (!)

Let us not forget :
In this new 2026 season, the F1 battery's electric motor (MGU-K) will deliver a significantly increased output of 350 kilowatts (kW), which translates to roughly 475 horsepower, a major jump from the current 120 kW (around 160 HP). This boosts the electrical contribution to the total PU to nearly 50% (!) Shifting the balance from the current 80/20 split (ICE/Electric) towards a 50/50 split, with a total power exceeding 1,000 HP (!)

Strategic Management :
The increased electric power requires careful energy management, as the battery can't fully recharge every lap, adding more strategic depth to racing.
On long straights, the battery drains quickly and can’t keep up. Teams and drivers will have to manage energy carefully and save electric power for key parts of the lap instead of using it continuously.

This limitation makes the new hybrid systems more strategic in racing, when and how you use electric power could decide battles and lap times.
I'm pretty sure , the battery charging time will be very crucial (!)

How I see this ?

what's funny is i keep forgetting that Mercedes helped tune the Honda civic/ballade back in 1996 till i think late 2001.

this was only for the S. Africa market only iirc.
