Hmm, I had to explain what my vanity plate meant in order for it to be approved. Not sure if all states require the same. I wonder what his explanation was.

Edit - I guess you can try to use some BS explanation like it’s my wife and kids initials or something and hope the DMV person is a moron.

I did before they asked (referenced my other plate on the demand paper)...

In the the first few years, every time I entered the US, I had to explain it. After a while I told them "why don't you put it in the computer!!!"

Funny enough most the time I re-entered Canada the guy/girl guessed what it meant.

Up until recently, Maine has had a very liberal policy regarding what may appear on a Maine license plate.

They are cracking down on new plates and making vanity plate holders with obscene messages turn them in when renewal is up. But, there are a lot of Maine plates on the road are pretty darn crude.
