Yank that b!@tch method
Ok, after reading this entire thread I decided to do the "yank" method. Btw, there was so much good advice here, some I heeded and others I wish I did.
I waited till after driving the car three hours from nyc to Boston to get car warm. Initially I was afraid of pulling too hard so I eventually just did a little up and down and some side to side with some force and it started to come out. I finally did a yank with some bending and get the grills out. Unfortunately I scratched a little paint and broke the tabs on the stock grills. Sucks because I wanted to keep them. I might glue the clips back on just in case. The scratch was luckily on the inside of the bumper so not terrible. I thought about doing the initial method but didn't have the right tool and chickened out after seeing some of the alignment issues. Anyway. Thanks to all who contributed to this DIY. First mod after having car 2 weeks. |
