Thanks. Yep, that one's a '15 6 Speed. Gets driven on the weekends when the weather is nice. Thinking of selling it for something more collectible now that I've got the BMW as the daily (and is now faster than the Mustang after going BM3 Stage 2).

Protip: jack up one side at a time, e.g. keep the car tilted. It'll keep the fluid from leaking.

You can use whatever fluid you normally use for the front diff.

Any gear oil rated 75W-85 should be ok. I used used:
1 bottle of BMW Hypoid G2 oil - 83222413511
2 diff plugs - 33117525064

Agree, thats what I did but only recommended if you have fresh fluid in it. If its old fluid, might as well change them since you already pulled everything apart.

I replaced the water pump on my 535i yesterday! A much easier job then I was expecting, once the sway bar is out of the way and the fan shroud is out, it's pretty easy to get to.

Unfortunately I misdiagnosed and I don't think replacing the water pump fixed my issue completely. It's having intermittent overheating issues, the coolant will be sitting at operating temperature just fine, but randomly, though moreso if I'm really getting into the boost, it would spike to over 120C for a few seconds then quickly drop back down to 105-110C. After that happened a few times, I did the bleeding procedure. During that, the pump sounded rough and would just completely stop sometimes, hence why I thought the pump was bad. It's still occasionally overheating even after I got the replacement on, but it does take a lot longer before it spikes over 120C. Regardless, the car had 91k miles on the original pump, so it was bound to go bad soon.

Now I need to figure out if I've just got an air bubble, or if the thermostat might be bad, or if something else entirely is wrong. Using ISTA, the car isn't throwing any codes, active or shadow, so I'm not sure what my next step should be. I've had this car for nine days and I'm already frustrated with it lol.

I'd replace the thermostat. Could also be the coolant temperature sensor going bad.

I drove it about 30 miles today with it being 105F outside and it didn't overheat; so I'm hoping that maybe I just had an air bubble in the system this morning, causing a false overheat warning. If the problem persists, I'll definitely look at the thermostat next.

Oil & filter change, engine air filters and cabin filters.

Man, I tell you...My head about popped off my neck trying to get that 4th and last screw on the underside of the dash to ultimately get to the inside cabin filters. I was tempted to leave the back screw out but was able to (somehow) get it back in place. For those of you who have changed out your cabin air filters...you know what I'm talking about...

I managed to destroy the driver rear axle on my car while enjoying some tire smoke.... Replaced it with a cheapy that a local parts store had and it made it maybe 10miles under zero stress before it popped and left me stranded... New OEM on the way as I am not ding this a 4th time LOL

Found an excuse to replace the *STOCK* Michellin RFs--just hit 23k miles!
Picked up a nail somewhere last week. Took it to my local Discount Tire Direct and while they said it could be repaired, @ 4/32" it was not advisable. Did some homework on the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 plus'--was happy with the reviews and the price point.

Nothing like a new pair of shoes!
