Yeah, its was absolute dogshit the entire tournament. Watching it made me want to rip my goddamn hair out. They were lucky to make it where to they did. Goddamn amatuers out there. Complete lack of pressure on the ball, not staying goal side, to much space for their marks. Ridiculous. Defense shouldn't be and doesn't need to be sacrificed for anything, ever. If they managed to not give up a goal within the first 15 minutes in ANY of their matches, they'd be fine.

Major fail on the USA side. Giving up a goal in the first 5 minutes of the match yet again, and without any last second miracles to come to the rescue this time around. The only time we looked like we deserved to win was between the 50th and 70th minutes. For the rest of the match, Ghana played better and the result shows it.

Well I think this theory is proven when we look at the fact we could only keep the ball out of our own goal when we were behind and pressing the ball forward. Any time the other team wished to put pressure on us, they did it at will. We were lucky England didn't put us to shame, and we probably had the worst defense out of the 16 remaining teams, but I think the team gave a concerted effort and deserves the praise they have received for what they've accomplished. I just wish that back line was better coached, and better led. I don't know how Bocanegra ever ended up with the armband.

The US team never measured up to the sum of it's parts. Talent wise, they could have made it to the quarters. As usual, US plays with no passion.

I think that's an unfair assessment. If there's one thing this US side showed it was passion. They just didn't have the coordination and teamplay, and even then it was primarily the defense. The offense performed respectably.

Why did you comment on this thread if you don't want to listen to all the "bangwangoners" on this thread. Who cares if people bangwagon for the world cup it only comes every four years. I don't like soccer yet I watch all the US matches cause it's the country that I live in and I want to support them. Everyone should feel the same , shame on you for your comment.

Bandwagon fans? There are more people in OT here talking about where LeBron is going next year than are talking about the US team at the World Cup.

Anyway.... The passion on the field was there for the most part. Coordination and cohesion, not so much....

If US can bring up a Kaka, Messi type of player that can orchestrate the middle of the pitch I feel there is a lot of growth for this team.

Very Proud of what they did. Im a Italy fan but now I will root for anyone other than Brazil or England.

feel sorry for the USA. The team just don't seem to perform very well... Too many misses, poor passes..

Someone said if they can get a messi type player that'd be good. Which actually made me think it is weird, sure the USA have landon donovan / dempsey, but why dont they have like one really really good player?? Population of what 400million? You can't find one Ronaldo?

by the way
What is everyones thoughts on tonight, Argentina vs Mexico?

Sorry I should have mentioned the bandwagoners outside of this thread; more specifically people I know through friends or acquaintances that all of a sudden knew everything there was to know about the sport once they heard the US had a shot. My comment was that of a general nature, directed at those aforementioned folk.

Passion for the huge payout if they won maybe. If they won, each player would receive ~650,000 gbp.

Sorry. But this sport will always be regarded as a joke in the US until they also fix the officiating. Officials randomly taking away goals without explanation and missing calls in every game when the replay shows otherwise is unacceptable. The England goal clearly went in behind the keeper's line and the officials missed it again. When your sport only has 2-3 goals per game, the officials HAVE TO GET IT F'N CORRECT.
