Qty 1, Optical conductor, door, front top left - 63319186635
Qty 1, Optical conductor, door, front top right - 63319186636 Qty 1, Optical conductor, door, rear top left - 63319186637 Qty 1, Optical conductor, door, rear top right - 63319186638 There are the most important ones. The ones that are most visible. Mi car has the bottom part of the interior trim black and the top cream yellowish color (you can see in the pictures). The light for fiber optics inside the door pocket are not visible at all. Only if you have some things inside this pocket the light becomes visible. not sure what is your interior color. Qty 1, Optical conductor, door front pocket, left - 63319186639 Qty 1, Optical conductor, door front pocket, right - 63319186640 Qty 1, Optical conductor, door rear pocket, left - 63319186641 Qty 1, Optical conductor, door rear pocket, right - 63319186642 This are the ones inside the pocket Qty 8, LED Module - 63319242150 Here is another discussion. For top fiber optics i used different code 63319213415 for top LEDs (LAST 2 pictures from my tutorial post) and for pocket i used 63319242150 Qty 1, Holder, fibre-optic conductor, front left - 51417225881 Qty 1, Holder, fibre-optic conductor, front right - 51417225882 Qty 1, Holder, fibre-optic conductor, rear left - 51427226459 Qty 1, Holder, fibre-optic conductor, rear right - 51427226461 These are the holders. I did not buy holders for the rear door. I used other method of attaching the fiber optic. Do you know the plastic cable holders that are comonly used for securing cables on the wall? That's what i used: For front doors i suggest to buy the holders they are very useful. These holders look like this - the black plastic that supports the fiber optic Qty 1, LED module, center armrest storage compartment - 63319208283 Not required . I did not do this project Qty 9, 3 pin plug 837707203 (16 wired pins will be required ask your dealer to match to these plugs) - Not sure what this was. Did not order. Now i have a question for you. Did you think how to connect the wires to LED's? Each LED has two pins (polarity) and these pins are pretty much inside. And the wires are wires. What i did is (hope my elevated language is understandable ) to buy some metal connection tubes. They are small "pipes" or female tubes that i used for this thing. Clipped (using an ordinary plier) each tube on the wire end and the other end of the tube connected to each pin. Hope you understood. You should wait for your LEDs to come then go with them to an electrical shop and tell them that you need to connect these wire to these pins ... maybe they will guide you ... OK, now to my few questions which will hopefully be the last questions until after I have installed everything and post a full guide with photos. To answer your question, my interior is Oyster/Black. (see attached photo). Please see other photo I attached to this post (with blue writing & arrows) for illustration purposes and hopefully to make this thread easier to follow. If I am wrong on any of the following, please correct me. For the top (long fibre optic) door strip for all 4 doors I need the following... 63319186635 63319186636 63319186637 63319186638 For these long fibre optic strips (above), I also need the 4 plastic holders (if I want to have them all done & fitted properly)... 51417225881 51417225882 51427226459 51427226461 I also need the following for the 4 lower (smaller) door pockets closest to the floor... 63319186639 63319186640 63319186641 63319186642 Is there not a black plastic holder for these too? If not, how are these fixed to the door pocket? I then need 8 x LED Modules which I assume give light to all the fibre optic cables. 63319242150 However, you now confuse me a little by giving two different codes for two different LED Modules, but without explaining why? Why did you use the other Module for the top (longer) fibre optic strip? What is the difference between 63319242150 & 63319213415 ???? I assume the fibre optic module is the clear ending in your photos 8 & 9? So what is the part number for the black plastic connector in your photos 10 & 11 and what is it connecting to? Is there anything else I need to just install the long fibre optic (nearest the window) and the smaller fibre optic in the door pocket (nearest the floor)? Finally, in a previous post you said... I know we're nearly there, but I beginning to think this is more hassle than it's worth. Hopefully I get the answers needed and I can then write my own guide with photos. As ever, thanks in advance for your help. |

The part numbers you posted are all correct.
For lower fiber optics (door pocket) there is no plastic holder. Take a look at your car. Inside the pocket , on top, you will see a groove/a gap. That is the place the fiber optic will fit and will sit firmly. When you install the optics inside the door pocket you will need to make a small hole where the end of the fiber optic will pass on the inside of the door panel. maybe you already have the small hole. i didn't have it. It is all carton so it's easy to make using a cutter. The 2 part numbers i gave are for two different LED's. But both are part of Ambient light system. See realoem.com One of the 2 LEDs (the black one you can see in my pictures) is easier to install for top fiber optics. It is straight and it is easier to face the light exactly at the end of the fiber optic. The other one (63319242150) is angled - the light is 90 dgrs on the body. This one is for the door pocket but can be used for top one as well, however it isn't as easy to make a secure and tight layout (to face it properly at the end of the optic) You have all you need to start the retrofit. I suggest to buy the parts for one side firstly and do that side. Then you have the experience to order and make the other side of your car. |

Exactly like that. but not on the door side connector. When you disconnect the harness connection box the door side has no more power into it. So you need to test your LED on the car side connection taking one by one each pin until you find the two correct ones.

The thing about the two different LED Module numbers you gave is; one has now become obsolete (63.31.9.242.150) and is no longer supplied directly by BMW. The other one (63.31.9.213.415) was not recommended by my BMW Dealership. He said something about it was only "2 polig and it should be 3 polig"? I don't even know what that means (polig), but he gave me the right LED Module to get. As it is a new upgraded LED module, hopefully it does the trick. What I hate about realoem.com, is that there are no pictures or proper diagrams for the part, so not really helpful to go looking up a part number. Therefore there is no way to see a visual difference between any LED Module? It's also the reason why I asked you about 61138377072 (plug housing), but I have no clue (1) what this is, (2) what it is used for, or (3) if I need it for this install? It was on 'livefour2day' original post, but I've no clue what it is? I am also thinking about ordering an extra 2 x fibre optics & LEDs and putting them in the footwells to extend the Ambient Lighting a little?? Thanks again for your help. |

Think about upgrading your speakers into front doors panels(if you have the basic system). It is a good opportunity since you take out your panel. Remember ... a lot of duct tape will be required to make things neatly. Yes , you're right, realOEM is not too helpful but can give you the guidance. Order the ones that are available you will figure out how to install them , i have no doubt. The main and most important thing is that the light (LED) is touching straight at the end of fiber optic. Few mm deviation will not light up your fiber optic very well. And when you secure everything all the parts should sit firmly on the panel. Order 63319213415 they will work just fine. After 2 hours of work for removing panels and arranging your tools will arrive the moment you'll see the LED light up. That will be a major boost for the rest of your work. I also don't know what is "2 polig and it should be 3 polig" . But i used it and it works. keep the faith. Plug housings i didn't order as well but were not required. The part nos givel by live4today , as you can see, ar not very accurate. |

OK, I will go back to my BMW supplier and ask about 63319213415 to see what he says. According to my BMW dealer, I just found out what they are. I quote him: "The contacts 61130005197 are the pins needed for the plug connectors." I am assuming these are the little pins you were talking about to connect the LEDs??? |

The correct LED part to order for all fibre optic strips was previously 63.31.9.242.150 but this has now been cancelled and updated to a new part number. (Check realoem) |

But ... 3-polig and 2-polig in German means 3-poles and 2-poles and that means 3-polig has 3 pins. I remember only 2 of them worked. So i connected the 2 wires to 2 pins from the 3 existent. Last edited by jordinho; 06-24-2015 at 01:09 PM.. |

i didnt measure the diam but a remember it couldnt be more than 5mm. But this is not the point. the original part is not an ordinary fiber optic. it is designed to fit properly where is should and it is not clear( if it would be clear it would transfer the light from the LED to it's end) The orig part has a different shape and construction that helps giving the light allover it's length. I wouldn't buy ordinary fiber optics for this job.

Hi everyone. I have the OEM lights already installed on my 5. My question is is there anyway to increase the output of the lights? I like the modern look (white LED) but you can barely see it when it's on. The classic look is more visible but I feel the output is still too weak. BMW could have done better in this area. If you go into a Mercedes with the same trim lighting it's much more noticeable.
Any help or suggestions in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

(Load up the defibrillator, we're going in...)
Like the people in this thread, I love the look of the ambient kit. So much that when I changed to a facelift version of the F10 and discovered it doesn't have the kit, my heart sank about a meter. BUT, I still have my older F10, which has the exact same trim colours (not yet sold it, long story about why I needed to buy a newer F10). My question is the thread above mentions that some of the wiring is already there on a car without the ambient kit. Is this correct? E.g. the wiring loom/harness already contains the wire needed, and therefore I can just unplug all the pieces from my old F10 and swap with the new one? If some of the wiring was already there, how comes there's a need to cut wires/splice new wires...? I'm going to attempt this this weekend, and will do a post with photos. FYI for those looking at removing the door card, I found the following videos useful: Any help/advice appreciated! |

Is the armrest light amber or white? My current one is amber and I've seen the f30s with white and would prefer that because it'd be easier to see things inside the console

Hi all.
How can I make ambient lights to work on my confort, active seats retrofitted. Everything works, including memory buttons after retrofitting from standard seats. I have only collum steering error, because the confort seats, as I understand include also electrical column steering but this should not affect anything. If I code the seats with 4UR option will be enough to light up the ambient lights of the seats? Do I need to code FRM to? With VO coding...adding 4UR to VO then seat modules code. ... I don't have the ambient lights at all on my car. Sorry if I typed anything wrong but I'm newbie in coding but still succeed to retrofit the seats by myself. Wiring diagram, and seatbelts error was the hardest part. In the meantime I have found that Ambient lighting is not connected to the seat module. No need to code it. In F10 there was no such light. For 5GT, long base and 7 series depending on the year there is one or two wires going from the plug under seat to FRM (pin 48 in plug A58*3B or pin 10 and 7 in plug A58*1B). But new questions now: 1. In order to know if I need one or 2 wire I need to know the year model of the seats?Fast way? 2. I installed also the ambient led in the doors, the one with one color only and connected each one to the door panel for windows. All three doors work the dimm but for the driver door ot stays at full bright and does not change like the three other when I move the lights wheel. Can you help me more, please? Maybe with some vin or schematics? I only find schematics for ambient with 2 colors and for those I need to route differ wires, and there are 2. Thanks |
