First, if this was figured out, please let us know.
The KAFAS1 system should work as is. Is HBA not working after LED headlight install? If you look at the wiring diagram, it doesn't seem like the FRM has a different pin out when changed between KAFAS01 and KAFAS02, going to the headlight. I'd love to know how this is resolved. |

Hello Guys!
I recently bought a 535D 2015 and i'm trying to figure out what is required based on what i have to make this conversion. It seems to be a case by case type of thing. From what i understand i've got a LCI model which make the conversion slightly easier but i dont know about my kafas and stuff like that. If i provide you my VIN would it be possible to know what is required? https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/d687106 Thanks for your help! Jonathan A. |

So I recently retrofitted KAFAS2 with new camera on my pre-LCI car. Even without an emulator, I am able to see the correct speed limit now on my HUD. I have a CIC nav. I'll be getting the new windshield installed this week so the camera can be seated corrected and the heating element for the camera that exists on the windshield glass, has its own wires that go to KAFAS2 module which I've also added.

I still have to solve, due to kafas 1, automatic high beams.

The headlight connectors and contacts are these:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/61132359991...4383.l4275.c10 The Male pins are on the connector. on the headlight but doesn't really have a bmw part number. The part number I found is the TE connectivity part number: 1-452337-1 |

Thanks. Indeed ordered a kit already.
Looking at my wiring diagram I will convert the current connector pinout to the new pinout. I have a SA522 (xenon) that I would like to convert to SA524 (adaptive xenon). Led was a little too expensive, because I need additional modules next to the headlights which will crank up the total costs significantly. Thanks |

Here is a comprehensive DIY for LED headlight retrofit by an awesome member over on the X3 site. This should almost apply identically to F10 except where the X3 uses 2x pairs of KCAN3 wires where as F10s use single pair in pins 9 and 10.

Pinout is identical on headlight connector except for KCAN3 in 11-12 position added in x3 (wiring screen shots attached top is F10, bottom is F25) |

Pin3 is the xenon lamp 56BL (2.5mm2) power. Shutter for high beam is controlled by TMS module over the KCAN3. Applicable SA524 compared to SA522. |

Correct that Pre-LCI cars get main power from FRM. LEDs get from Junction box and Rear Fuse Box. I'm putting a complete new harness so I can revert to pre-lci by swapping out to the original FRM module and reconnecting original headlight harness/connections, so as to not have to re-pin the connectors on the headlights. Only two lines need to be replaced on the FRM for what I'm doing, for all other pins to FRM and ZGW I am adding the connections as needed along with all the new power and ground cables needed. |

Funny is that pin9/10 have a different function is you code the car with SA522 compared to SA524, where it has additional modules (TMS Left and Right) in the ECU list for SA524 via the CAN bus on these same pins. |

Now when I look at the wiring diagrams I see that up to 06-2013 (prelci) the KCAN3 bus is not connected to pin 9/10. Initially I thought that I only had to add the CL (Cornering Lights) wires (pin6) and code the card to SA524. But that did not work. So I started to think that I do need the KCAN3 wires to actually steer the TMS modules. From the diagrams I see that the pin 9/10 KCAN3 are needed when the car is a LCI (07.2013+) car. What is the right AHL Xenon wiring diagram now for my pre-lci headlights with an FRM3? Thanks |

OK, success in getting LEDs to work but with caveat.. I have got the lights coded and functional with the two ZGWs I had gotten, the ZGW02 High Plus and the ZGW02 8sk. Did not try with my original ZGW02 High at this time since I keep running into e-sys/psdzdata issues..
Now I have to flash the ZGWs to work with my car instead of donor car and then actually install the lights to car Shout out to Steve from CodeMyBimmer who helped me remotely flash the ZGW and to Shawn for answering all of my unique queries Last edited by addy27; 03-25-2020 at 11:54 AM..
