Yes I agree, it took me a while to identify the boost sensor.
I'm now running map 6 of 7 and have had no problems or faults so far and am so impressed with the performance, it has transformed a great car into a fantastic and best of all fun car to drive. I'll try the gearbox reset although I have no complaints. |

I imagine that the DTUK and Tdi Tuning boxes are very similar. Yes if you reset the gearbox it will 'adapt' to how you drive. If after you reset it and you drive quite quickly, you will notice that the car will feel and respond slightly quicker. Its nothing to loose out on.

Well done, nice mod. I have purchased a BMS tuning box for the 550i. I fitted it and it made quite a difference. I have taken it off again though because I'm messing about with exhausts at the moment (another story).

Hi,
I had 2 boxes one from Racechip.com and one from http://www.tuningbox.com/ and I was disappointing with both of them. With the first the acceleration was not linear and the second gave some errors. I had the same message of drive train error which resulted in changing the electrovalves of the turbos so be careful. I think the remap is the way to go. |

I have spotted a DTUK tuning box for sale on ebay for the 313ps Bmws.
eBay item number:131514408240 I have no connection with the seller, just pointing out a good deal for anybody who is thinking of getting one. |

ianF10 Where are you based in Essex?
I have a racehip installed on my 535d M Sport and definitely agree it's the best way to go, especially if you have a warranty. Be careful as you can throw the check lights when you crank it up! Last edited by OEMonsterz; 06-15-2015 at 04:12 PM.. Reason: Spelling Error |

Are the Engine Management lights recorded on the ECU so if it goes back for warranty work they will be able to see it ?
The best map for the DTUK on the 535d 313ps is 3+1. It is the smoothest and you will not get any engine lights. |

I am near Southend-On-Sea. As previously stated I am running map 6 of 7 so nearly full power and it has been faultless, no errors or alarms. I would like to put it up to 7 but as its running so nice am reluctant to change it. |

Anything and everything throws a check control error and gets registered in the log. I know from bad experience! Basically I installed the chip as is (purchased used from an F10 530D owner, who had cranked the settings to a nutter level) and everything was fine until one day I tried to gun the car from a standstill. Suddenly malfunction came up (SHAT MYSELF) and the car cut off... booked it in for a check at BMW Elms Stortford ASAP. They confirmed it was an error that had just happened and it was highly likely to do with the chip. During the diagnostic they told me of every single MINOR error, including the time and dates I replaced the interior lighting. If you are going to do mods, bear this in mind if you have a warranty with BMW Direct! You will need someone with a PROPER DIAGNOSTIC kit to clear the errors, otherwise BMW will have you over a barrell. I hope this helps you and anyone else! |

If it's of any interest my 335d has been remapped by DMS and I asked them to limit the torque to 700nm.
The UK 3 series forum had a dyno meet meet last week and the runs there confirmed that this was what my car put out, alongside 360bhp. They can do more if you want, as can ecotune, as the car done by them was up at 385bhp and about 740NM. The cars running tuning boxes had mixed results with either weaker figures than advertised and a lack of smoothness/consistency between runs.

Just to add a another option for those that wish to pursue the Tuning Box route:
I used Spider Tuning whose system is a 3-channel unit, meaning Common Rail, Boost and MAF and have had great results. The purported numbers are frankly a little ridiculous (313PS to 414PS and 630Nm to 740Nm) however I do believe it is somewhere near 380 and 700Nm as the grunt is truly epic! Strangely (and I would be interested if this is noticed by other 'Box owners), the car runs smoother and quieter than stock. Latest units are quite interesting as they have released a Bluetooth controllable unit so you can change maps without getting under the bonnet. http://www.dieseltuning.co.uk/store/...product_id=293

Does anybody see any benefit using high octane fuel for example Shell V Power 99 Over regular for example 95 Tesco Diesel with a tuning box fitted or with a remap?
I have a DTUK on my 535d 313ps and it is 2 years old and has done 22,000 miles. Im just wondering whether i should remove the tuning box and sell it and get it remapped to 360 bhp & 700nm or just keep the tuning box on. Thanks |

I'm considering the Spider Performance System for my 535D. Anyone feel that there is a better product on the market?

Tuning options
Hi everyone,
I recently bought an F11 535D LCI and although it is plenty fast for now, from reading around in forums it seems so easy (and safe?) to gain a significant amount of performance, that I have started looking about tuning options. This thread is quite old, but I see that as a good thing as tuning options will have been tested thoroughly by now. I would greatly appreciate some insight regarding the different options. Reading this thread, the systems that seem to be more recommended are: 1. TDI Tuning 2. DT-UK 3. Spider (DieselTuning) Can anyone recommend one over the others for any particular reasons? Also I read in other threads/forums that ECU remaps, tend to be better. Is that still the case or have the aforementioned tuning boxes improved to the point that they are equally good? Many thanks in advance! |

This thread is indeed old, and remaps no longer necessitate the removal of the ECU - new technology means they can be done over the OBD2 port.
We all have our tuner of choice; my favourite is Birmingham based EndTuning.com, the guy is a wizard!

Do you have a view on whether remapping the ECU is better than the various tuning boxes? I do appreciate the convenience of being able to install/remove as I please, and I guess the selection of different settings for MPG vs performance as long as they are not significantly worse that the remaps. |

I've done both over the years, and a good remap on a reliable & well maintained vehicle is my preference. Tuning boxes are more basic, although the Racechips ones are pretty good (I ran one on my 320d N47). It's horses for courses.
If you have an accident, an insurance company is highly unlikely to uncover a remap - whereas a tuning box will stick out like a sore thumb. I do hope this isn't going to turn into an ethical debate about declaring mods. If your car is still under warranty, and/or you bring it to BMW for servicing, your remap can disappear if BMW do software mods. Likewise if there's 'rogue' software found on the ECU, BMW may not cover warranty claims.

Got my old 535d remapped afterwards , car ran so much better, not even worth comparing it to a tuning box. |
