Since you already paid the price of a base 535i for a 528i , why don't you go get the sunroof which totally makes the car much more roomy and luxurious??

IMHO the 8sp gearbox transforms the engine in ways i didn't think possible. When the engine does drop off in power, the gearing makes it a smooth fade. It feels faster & smoother than the e60 525i for sure. I thought the 8sp was overkill for such a small engine, but actually it truely does make it better. I also drove the 2.0T audi with 7sp DSG that the whole world raves about and what a joke compared to the bmw 2.5L bmw with the 8sp. sure there is power but there is definitely lag that the DSG can't smooth out.

i was actually going to go for the 523+options. i calculated that if I didn't go for the sunroof, the 528i was only 20k more for ~50hp more *IF* I didn't get the sunroof. so now I am 20k over budget. didn't want to be 45k over budget

You should have titled this thread "...523 Review and bought a 528".
I also drove the 523 here in Chile, but don't know if it was the 2.5 or the 3.0... Gotta look that up. I ended up buying the 528 as well and am pretty happy I did. Still got this little voice in the back of my head telling me "you should have bought the 535 for the extra US$10k", though. But my bank executive and my conscience loves the sound of the NA engine at full blast. |

528i = HKD 598,000 without sunroof
535i = HKD 738,000 with sunroof So you ticked the options on your 528i for more than HKD 100,000?? Amazing!!

Nav (i am not a local and like the bigger screen) Hifi Premium (we tested the stndard setup and both myself and wife rejected it). my home stereo is B&W 800 series based Premium edition (back camera/soft close trunk/rear sun-shade)-need backup camera for wife front sports seats (the standard seats were less supportive than my e9x sport seats--can't downgrade) surround camera--need for wife and ofcourse no sunroof had it in my 335i and probably remembered to open it 10 times in 2 years. you guys must think i am crazy for not going for 535i since it was in my budget, but coming from a 335i, i found it frustrating for city drive because its too fast to quickly. also the NA engine simply is a bit smoother, and power delivery is a bit more instantaneous. yes i know its sacrilege to not love the n54/55. 528i for me is the perfect car. if my budget was higher i would get dynamic drive as well |

The only freebie I asked for was the iPod cable. Sales said he will throw in carpets and umbrellas for me. Just got a call from the sales, car arriving on the 8th and ready for pick up on the 14th!!! |

just wanna know your thoughts on 20" wheels. probably need to fit 35 front tires and 30 back tires on 20". would it be too bumpy on hk road? i am thinking of 19" wheels for this reason |

Both ride smooth and comfortable, plus I am not planning to lower the car (well, yet, cuz there are zero lowering option with the electronic dampers) and with comfort mode, I think the 20" will do just fine. And for cosmetic reasons, I don't think I can bear with the F10 running the same size as the E90. |

true, i don't think you can lower the car anyway for the 1st year otherwise the warranty would be void. i actually like the 20" much more, but just concern about 1)$, tires will cost much more, 2)availability, 20" tires RFT are hard to find, may need to order and takes time |

I won't be running RTFs. My 19" runs better than the stardard 17" RTF on the E90. I can't imagine how harsh the ride will be on 20" RTF. If I do get a puncture (touch wood), I will just hv to deal with it and call a tow truck. |

I , on the contrary with your situation , went from e60 530i to f10 535i just for the feel of twin power turbo. Now you can start enjoying the long waiting of the F10.... Hehe!!

Actually, the correct quote is HKD45K for the 4 wheels without tyre

we both loved the big 10" screen and decided life is too short to compromise when i got my last 335i, i regretted not getting every option wanted (went for an in-stock car as opposed to custom order since they were heavily discounted) so don't want to repeat since now i have to wait for custom order regardless... |
