F10 retro fit for apple carplay etc....
Question for you all. May have been addressed elsewhere so point me in the right direction and pardon my interruption. I have 2012 F10 and am planning on keeping for a bit longer as this new car market settles. With that said, want to upgrade idrive to include apple carplay (which brand still researching).
Question: For those of you that have done this, does the HUD still work as suppose to? Meaning do the turn by turn navigation still display on HUD? or does the upgrade negate the hud functionality? |

From now on I'm assuming all the Chinese versions are made from the same cheap hardware and unstable code. I was trying to save $500 by not buying a BMW version but that was a mistake. |

Is NBT EVO the only legitimate route without going Chinese/Aliexpress?
I don't mind if I have to switch out the screen, and I don't mind leaving it. I mind the $600 lol. US 2016 535i. |

Yes, I believe the NBT EVO is the only genuine BMW option and they currently run $1000-$1200 for the head unit alone. I was really wanting a touch screen but with NBT EVO I'd be looking at $2000+ for that setup so I went Chinese. I cannot tell you how big of a mistake that was. In hindsight I should have spent $400 more for an NBT EVO and forgot about having a touchscreen. Now I'm left with a lengthy boot up wait followed by several steps to reconnect my phone to bluetooth, or get the screen back into CarPlay after it glitches back to the home menu.

Yes, as far as I know it’s the only “genuine” solution. I went with it without a touchscreen and am very happy. I’ll add a touchscreen later on.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I have searched and searched. I have a 2011 550i and has the stock 10.25 screen with Nav. I bought a CIC Android retrofit display but then found that my Display has two connectors: the one purple 4 pin (expected) and one thin black connector with 4 cables. I can find my display online all over (Example on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225966852391) but I cannot find a kit that works with both connectors.
What am I missing? |

NBT to CIC, anyone that can help me?
Hello,
I just bought a aftermarket screen for my F11 2013. I bought the CIC screen sence i thought my car had CIC but ofcourse my car has NBT. Is it possible to get the screen to work anyway? I tried to connect the NBT cable to the screen but i got "NO CONNECTION" or someting like that on the new screen. I hope anyone can help me since i payed much for it and the seller doesn't want to take it back. |
