I went in for a test drive on the 535i.
I was offered 812.00 a month with zero down (only first month, acquisition fee, registration etc) without any bargaining from my side. I would love to get it into the mid 700's like you did but I don't think it will be possible as that's quite a difference. Even if I get the car at 4% margin over invoice My payments would be in the 790.xx without tax. The MF I was offered was .0025 but I believe the base rate is currently .0023. Perhaps I should work on getting that down. |

Fully loaded 535i MSRP is closer to $70K, however considering the deal car had MSRP around $60K.

How did you get 49000 ish for those options? The 1k over Ed invoice is about 52k. Monthly in low 600 is impossible unless you got below invoice and below buy rate. Please share how you did this!

I'm the only one (it seems) getting a manual tranny. It's one of the reasons I prefer BMW over just about anything else: the availability of the manual.

Hi guys...
Scott - you get my PM? BFV - I'll PM you in a sec Wenw80 - I'm from Fremont, CA - didn't get any good results in the bay so had to go through a SO cal dealer... http://www.philippek.com I'll do my best to try to explain how I worked this deal... but you gotta read up on how lease's work else this will look like jibberish to you Here is how I negotiated the price: Description Code Invoice MSRP Base price --- $42,440 $49,600 Destination charge $875 $875 Metallic paint A90 $500 $550 Cinnamon Brown $0 $0 Premium Package $1,640 $1,800 Rear-view camera $365 $400 Fold-down seat $430 $475 Park Distance $685 $750 Navigation system $1,730 $1,900 option total $5,350 $5,875 subtotal $48,665 $56,350 add 1k over $49,665 - $1500 X3 cb $48,165 (I was returning a x3 lease, this is loyalty cash) final negotiated price = $48,165 Here is how I negotiated the actual lease deal: 36 Month w 12k per year – Residual 60% of MSRP – .00230 Base Rate put down 7 security deposits to lower rate by 0.00049 .00230 - .00049 = 0.00181 add ED markup of 0.0003 .00181 + .0003 = 0.00211 .00211 is the final money factor you will use to make your calculations Find a lease calculator online and plug in your numbers MSRP = $56350 Negotiated price = $48665 Inception fees = $770 Sales tax 9.75% Residual = $33810 monthly payment = $627 The key points are: #1 use multiple security deposits... it is a great way to get the rate down without "losing" the money since you get the deposits back #2 if you do ED your monthly payments WILL BE LOWER. The lease is calculated based off of the lower ED invoice (european invoice is always lower than US invoice) against the US MSRP. If you try to do this deal based off of US invoice, the same exact setup would fetch a payment around $700.... ED is saving me approx $75 a month in payment. check the b'fest ask a dealer forum for really good lease info... hope this sheds some light on the process folks... the 5 is on the boat and I'm waiting redelivery! |

Thanks for the info, those numbers make a lot more sense now, I missed a few packages such as sport and pr 2 that was a 4k diff between urs and mine. Thus the diff, thanks for the explaination. Is the loyalty cash just for the x3s?

wenw80, yeah the $1500 loyalty cash was a X3 only thing for folks coming off of a X3 lease in Aug and Sept. You never know what is out there, so hit up your CA or call BMWFS to see if they have any loyalty programs going on that are not being widely advertised.
78mao, if you did ED, it will all depend as to when you wanted to pick up the car. Lets say you wanted to do a November 1st pickup... if the Welt has an open time slot on that date... you would reserve that date and then the factory would build the car just in time for your arrival. I flew to munich the first week of sept to take initial delivery. I dropped off in Munich as well and had the car on the cargo ship by 9/24. It is scheduled to be in So Cal around mid october... but will be pending how fast customs clears the ship. |

Wow that's really fast! Out of curiosity which drop off location did you choose? Munich?
Also, any good hotels you'd recommend that's reasonable in price and easy to get to from the airport? |

yup, dropped off in munich.
i brought the wife, so we paid a little extra to stay at a 4 star place. We stated at Le Meridien munich based on the good Tripadvisor reviews. Was very nice with large rooms @ around 132.30 euros a night. if that is too pricey, check tripadvisor... good resource to get pricing and see real pics of the rooms. It was right outside of the main Munich train station, so 12 euros to get there from the airport (2 min walk) and a 10 min train ride to the Welt. I'm super picky with parking, so also liked it because it had underground secure parking (20 euros per day) with very large spaces so you can angle the car in to avoid any door dings. |

jdm, you got a heck of a deal, congrats! I'm jealous! Two questions, if you please: 1) How much did you spend in total for the ED trip? 2) My understanding of the security deposit (I'm also considering the buy-down option) is that you will still get it back even if the car is wrecked and a total loss, or stolen. You only run a risk of losing the deposit if you turn in the car all trashed. True? Thanks!

Airfare for 3 from SFO to London (3 day stay) to Munich (3 day stay) to SFO - $3200
4 star hotel stays (5 nights) - $750 food/restaurant/souvenirs - $600 livin it up in the Welt premium lounge, experiencing the "delivery" presentation, driving the bavarian country sides and das autobahn - priceless Yup - your car insurance will cover the car, you'll get the deposit back. Go for it E92, you will never forget the experience! |

Hey, thanks jdm! The hotels weren't nearly as expensive as I had feared. Sounds like you had a great time. And since BMW suspends the lease payments while the car is in transit, it's really painless, financially. I wish I had been able to do it - but I can plan better next time and start saving now.
