From my response, I've now actually bought a power bank from amazon and going to give it a go, its the easyacc one. The anker ones are a superior brand however you will not be able to charge and discharge at the same time. I'll report back how I get on with the easyacc.
Another point I didn't mention in my previous post is the memory recording capacity. If you or anyone did decide to have the mobius always on, 1 minute of 1080p recording is on average 120mb. So a 64gb card will store 8 to 9 hours before the loop. You could record in 720p and double the number of hours recorded but whats the point in 720p. |

I have just signed up to this crowd funded camera.
It has had some good pre-reviews from technology magazines. Quite an innovative solution.

If that works as claimed that looks very neat! Will be interesting to see how good the solar panel is, and whether it could actually charge the camera in cloudy weather or whether it needs direct sunlight to charge ..hope it is the former as that will be a really nice camera

That looks very impressive, I'm tempted to back it but really need further technical data before I can. I have sent an e-mail across and will post the response, questions such as, is it 1080p or 720p HD recording.
But its definitely the way forward/future. Nice find! |

Response from the above camera developer:
Does the cameras record in 1080p or 720p and at what rate mbps? 576p, 720p, 1080p, maximum rate is 3mbps IMO 3mbps is very poor. |

Hi all,
I've also started looking at dashcams for my F07 530GT, and just came across this very interesting thread. Regarding parking mode and battery drain ... http://thinkware.com/Products/Dashcam/F750 ... functionally the Thinkware F750 seems quite similar to the Blackvue DR650. The one difference that caught my eye is that (unlike the DR650, which requires an external PMP box) it has built-in voltage and time monitoring, for protecting your battery during parking mode. Specifically, you can set the camera to turn off if the battery voltage drops to between 11.6 and 12.3V (configurable in 0.1V steps), or if the timer reaches 6/12/24/48 hours. So I'm curious to know whether any other BMW owners have any experience of the F750, and whether I can still expect battery drain warnings if I hardwire it to a permanent 12V feed (assuming I constrain it to run for 6 hours only, and above 12.3V only). Also, did anyone splash out on BMW's own 'Advanced Car Eye' solution? Any details on how it's hardwired? How did it perform? Cheers. |

Front and rear, or just front? I can't decide whether it's worth the hassle of cabling up a rear camera. Any reason you bought Thinkware vs other makes? I might just wire it to ACC and GND and forget about the parking mode. Don't want to risk getting battery warnings every morning.
GSPannu, that GeckoEye looks very interesting, but I don't see much evidence of it in the wild yet. Fingers crossed it appears in UK someday. |

The rear one in my opinion is worth if you worried about parking, in my case I decided it is not worth having due to the auto sun blind in my rear window, hence very little space for a camera.
If you are not worried about parking issues, for traffic accidents (God forbid) the law covers you any way, i.e. if some hit you from the back they automatically at fault. I do like the Thinkware camera, looks like the Black Vue 650 but with more features, I never liked the BMW one it look like a normal camera sticking to the windscreen, shame they did not go for a small one like Thinkware with the i-drive as the screen to check the recordings, this will being the best integrated option. I do like the fact the F750 uses its own battery not the case with the Blackvue, fully with you with avoiding battery warnings following.

Nextbase 402g is a Which Best Buy and there seems to be a newer version - Nextbase 512g. Can be supplied with a hard wiring kit that connects to the fuse box.
