well, i didn't see any difference when I rolling the dial. I would ask my service advisor later. By the way there is no error and problem when I using this light switch.

M3, Mine is a US Spec F10 - so I don't have all the cool European items on it, (speed limit info, amber turn signals, rear fog lights, etc.) Slowly, I am trying to add them and frankly - all cars in all markets should be this way…makes for a safer/more enjoyable drive.

My Mum arrived from the Uk this afternoon bringing with her the Euro spec light switch including the rear fog light switch. Installed in my 2011 F10 in 5 minutes and works a treat.

Also, what Exhaust is that, and is it for an M-Sport or base F10?

It looks like the Light Control Element you removed already had the Rear Fog Light switch in it, and the one you replaced it with was the same but added the headlight aiming toggle? Is that right, and if so, does the headlight aiming toggle work?

Rear Fog Light switch
A couple questions. 1. Does the switch from ECS come with a new panel that has a cut out for the rear fog lamp switch? 2. Does the new switch have the silver accent strip at the bottom of the switch like the OEM front fog light switch? Thanks!

I found the answers to my questions by going to the ECS website where I saw the switch. BTW, it is currently on back order and not expected until the end of Feb '12.

Local dealer said they couldn't order it for me due to dot laws prohibiting them. Crock of shit if you ask me.

I just installed this on my 12 535xi. Plug and Play. Easy install and should definitely help on those foggy days on the interstate.

Very good post and thanks for the info.
I am in Germany so I am hoping when I take my F10 into the dealer for 15k oil change this month I can get this switch direct from the parts counter. Thanks again, this will come in very handy here.

I just returned from two weeks TDY to the land of the BMW and experienced the rear fog light usage, and I asked several locals what they thought. To me, and to most of the Germans I met, the rear fog light is not such a good idea because it is often misunderstood to be the working side of a one-brake-light-out car and therefore treated as a hazard. The locals complained that when they see that single red light in the fog, their heart rate hits max and the brake-or-no-brake decision has to be made instantly. I'm not going to update my car with this switch. I have no idea what US drivers would think if they ever saw the rear fog light on US roads.
