Just start talking to it. Like say phone book, or Navigation, or Music, and it just starts asking you for whats next

I discovered during a road trip this weekend that when you hit 'P' on the gear selector in Sport Mode, the transmission will Park (expected), but the gear selector also moves back over to the right automatically.
Up until this point, I was moving it over manually. Made me smile.

I don't know if this was standard on all model year BMW's (BMW newbie) but I fat fingered the park button once when I was on a downhill road. Once I opened my door, the car automatically put the car in park and advised to make sure the car is in park

I just discovered this by accident last week.
If you have keyless entry, you can fold your wing mirrors in by keeping your finger on the top of the door handle. You just lock the car the normal way, by touching the top of the door handle, but keep your finger on there for around five seconds and the mirrors fold in. |

Coming from a BMW newbie...this has probably been around for a long time in BMW cars but I think its cool that when you start driving, the seat belt sort of pushes back and adjusts to your body...its like the car is saying "strap in, this is gonna be awesome"

On a really hot day, I used the max setting on the a/c to cool the car off - it dropped to 60 deg - then when the cabin was cool, I pressed the a/c button and it restored its previous setting - so, there was no need to manually change the temp to a moderate setting....

I just noticed this last night... if you push down on the cruise control dial and hold it there, the car will actually apply the brakes to slow you down (vs. just coasting). I know it works when the cruise is on but not set, but I'm not sure if it works when the cruise power is turned off.
I actually kind of like this feature... the brake pressure it applies seems to be well suited for a lot of conditions. Pretty cool. |

I love the ability to copy all of my music onto the USB drive, plug it into the USB port in the storage under the arm rest ( the one in the glove box didn't work for some reason) and it plays thousands of songs that you can control either from idrive, or through the scroller on the steering wheel. It eliminates the need for CDs, cables that connects to your iphone ipod etc.
I bought a small USB with 32 GB just for that purpose alone. I wounder if it will play videos on my idrive... Oh yeah another feature that i have just found is that on my F10 550i non-M trapezoid exhaust have 2 exhaust in them, and on of each side is closed, but opens up when you get to a certain speed. It is like a butterfly mechanically controlled by vacuum somehow. Pretty cool stuff. |

Regarding the famous dot, I do have it. THe first thing I nopticed when I picked up the car and later drove it at night was the Nav screen map changes to night mode automatiocally. In my previous E90 abnd E92, both with iDrive, neither had a dot and neither switched to and from the night mode map automatically.

Notice the dot is on the right side which is angled to face the driver? Well, that is because it is actually a camera used for option S1020 (Spouse Spy Locator or better known as Spouse 10-20). It is an option that is offered to the spouse of a potential purchaser and is not disclosed to the purchaser. Since I'm a purchaser I have not been awarded access to the secret website that let's you check on the location and see a current image of your spouse (also they were unable to contact my wife and therefore we don't have S1020 and therefore she does not have access also). Pretty sneaky on BMW's part and quite a sly marketing ploy as they contact reluctant spouses in the case where they know the spouse is giving grief to the potential buyer for considering a BMW to try to sway them into allowing the purchase to take place. So, the bottom line is that your spouse opted for the dot (S1020) as a compromise to let you purchase the car. |
