Just to shed light on how much fuckery BMW does with steering wheels: The F10 pre-LCI paddle shifters put out different resistance values compared to the F10 LCI paddle shifters, rendering the paddles incompatible between the two cars. And that's for a facelift of the same generation. You really expect cross-generational buttons to share the same signal values? Pffft quit clowning

Isnt the wiring, connectors and pinout the same? I will look at the same project for my i3S, but waiting for some parts.

Yes wiring and connector are the same, the differences are the vibro/heating module and touch module (traffic jam assist) and the biggest problem is that the buttons send out a different signal why nothing works.

Ok, so if you use the F-series steering column ECU (the little black box in the steering wheel), it should work in my opinion (?).

No, the button themselves are the ones sending out the signals, the box just interprets the signals. It's not a straight on off signal.

Its like Unspec says the electric boards inside the buttons need to change so the send the same signal as an f series. Achtually the only way to get this to work is internal the steering wheel has to be like an f and just the exterior is g. |

Actually it is on the right side.
Which is the wrong side. As left side is the right side.

Had the paddles (which match the e36 M3 stock shifter perfectly) only to find out they were not simple make/break contact paddles, but working with different resistance. Really!? Well long story short, a friend of mine who can work with microelectronics, converted the little pcb's into on/off contacts and I had working paddles.
