Unfortunately I had to contact my SA because my car is misbehaving again. While on the call I inquired about the campaign and he looked it up and confirmed that I am included so it would be in the shop for a couple days. He also mentioned that they were not proactively reaching out but rather handling as customers come in for normal service. In my case my car isn't running right so it will be addressed now.
Knowing my dealership and appointment time I will probably get stuck in an X1 or something.

Just got mine back and it stated "perform open campaign" but nothing about a battery or CBS update... also no bag lol. What's the CBS update do? I can definitely tell the idles better and seems faster even in the normal setting.

Parts still haven't even arrived at my dealership yet... 2 weeks to the day. This is getting ridiculous.

They did a CBS software update, and i swear they wiped out my Dinan tune as a result would this update do that? If so now I have to schedule an appointment to reflash......sure feels slower. They also didn't fix my idle issue and claimed they couldn't replicate and no codes.....bullllllshiiiiit My SA felt bad (he's cool) and now I have to return again They also had to order in some random parts as part of the care package which appointment will be scheduled upon arrival. Hope I get some schwag

2011 550i 57k miles. Out of warranty.
So i called my local bmw dealer and this son of a batch said I would have to wait a year due to the 140 people ahead of me on the list. He said they work on 2 cars a week .. Comes out to 70 weeks. I asked him if every dealer was backed up like his or what. He said yes. I told him to go fuark himself. Called another bmw dealer bout 30 miles away from my house and he said he could have me in there on 2/4. What a fuarkin relief. Just bought this car from a dealer less than a week ago. Thing is bada$$ except for the rough idle, weird sound on cold starts and some sluggish throttle response in D mode. Honestly I would hate to get rid of this thing.. V8 turbo.. Engine can't get much better. Just few questions... 1. After getting the car serviced through this "recall".. Are these parts still likely to fuark up again in the future or are they "solved" forever, so to speak. 2. If the car is still likely to screw up in the future, I'm thinking about just taking advantage of the bmw buy back schindig. But does this only apply if I purchase a New BMW or could I purchase a used, CPO BMW through the BMW dealer. 3. Recently got a muffler delete on there. Would hate to hear these sons of batches say the muffler delete fuarked with the engine. I know muffler delete wouldn't cause any of these symptoms my car has but you know these slimy bastards would try to get over on their own mothers if they had the chance. Is there anything to worry about here? Should I have the muffler shop put back on my stock mufflers? Thanks guys! |

A local tech I trust told me after these updates the engine is going to be in his words "nearly bulletproof". Seeing as all that they're replacing I'm cautiously optimistic as I too love the TTV8 in this thing. Haven't driven anything half as good and have heard with the updates it's even better than stock.
However you're going to want an extended warranty through BMW CPO or if a local shop offers one for that car, or any B M for that matter. Read through the main Service Plan thread and see what changes were made to routine maintenance and you can make a decision.

Mine didn't get fixed yet but they tore down and rebuilt some parts that they could and I can tell a difference even in plain "D" mode. If it can even get better I'm pretty psyched.

i also told them to check my transfer case and guess what they had to replace it... have i not told them so i would be going back in very soon. I suggest anyone that feels car making low power in 1st gear and then surges very hard to take your car in and have them check the transfer case.
I knew my transfer case was going because my friend had the same issue in his 2011 550xi and had to go back to dealer 4 times before they found out. Car will be in my hands around 2-3pm lets see how she feels.
