Black Panel Display?

Yes, though it looks like it will only be available with the HUD option. Note, that if you select this option the instrument cluster now changes in appearance when building the car on the BMW website.

Not to be a nay-sayer, but I'll believe it when I see it. I was told that the October 2010 production had the full black panel -- cited in the sales brochure and on the bmwusa.com configurator. But it ain't there. My guess is that they'll keep putting them in until the inventory of the old console is gone.

I'm about to order a 550xi to replace my X6 and I checked with my dealer. They will have to do the order by hand rather than through the system to make sure it includes all the post-March options and the price of the actual car will increase a bit but he confirmed that last Friday they got a memo from BMW France telling them that it will be a full black panel display and the 6NR option will be available as well.

Not sure what else, he promised to show me this memo when I go in later in the week to place the order.

I wanted this, and hoped for a possible upgrade. But seeing the pickture makes me think about the roads in Norway in the winter... White on white? Then it is probably better with orange, or will it change colors automatically?

I've also ordered a F10 with the black panel display

It was for me a must to have that and I've been especially waiting for that to order the car. It was an option of 155eur in Belgium, worth it.

Normally it will be available for all countries. but only available from production March. Maybe are the dealers not informed yet.

Oh Man! My F10 was made last week and I am seriously hoping it comes with the upgraded black panel display or I am gonna feel cheated. It's on the Faust cargo ship this week and in Zeebrugge now so I should know soon. I will let you know if it comes pre-week 9 with the upgraded dash.

Week 7 and NO upgraded dash.

I'm seriously considering about retrofitting it. I test drove 5 GT with full black display and it looks so much better than current speedo. Only thing is that realOEM shows this part as about $1000

FYI, I've just ordered a space grey 535xi for production next month and one of the standard pieces of kit on it was option "6WA" "Instrument Cluster with expanded Contents". This was added in automatically, and didn't cost any extra.

I'm presuming this is the full/enlarged black panel/LCD screen.

Yes - 6WA is the full black panel instument cluster but its only available in the the UK from week 9 build if you order HUD - option 610

6WA comes up when 610 head-up is ordered. However I'm told no color on the head-up for the USA for now. March build. Very confusing- I'll find out when it arrives.

I have been told its full colour for the UK - attached document from BWM UK

I looked at the official Bulgarian price list dated March 2011 today and it stated that 610 HUD is now only available together with 6WA. You can order 6WA without ordering the HUD apparently, but I guess that might be market dependent.

Look at the pictures of the dash of the Alpina B5 sedan and touring on BimmerPost. They have Alpina blue gauges, but they also appear to have the extended black panel.
