Out patrolling on a cloudy day and ran into a new GT3 owner. He was a really cool dude who let me snoop in his car until my heart was content. Super clean!! Rubbing up on the alcantara got me all excited to get my car. That's what I call "community oriented policing."

Man I would be stoked if law enforcement approached me about my e90 lol. That car is sick and you’ll enjoy every second of it. Just don’t be like Mike Lowrey and use it for chases

You're going to need so many that the printing costs alone are going to break the budget!

Question about speeding for you. 😬
I'm in the queens/ Long Island ny area. On the highways I drive the limit goes from about 50 to 55 max depending on highway.
We all know people are driving over the limit on the highways at a reasonable speed and don't get pulled over.
So I was doing 70 in a 50 just cruising in the left lane. Nothing crazy. And a suv was behind me for about a mile and then put on the lights and pulled me over. I was surprised as I feel about 20 over limit on highway is usually not an issue. I have pushed out the court date for a couple years so let's see what happens. Unluckily I was pulled over in queens where there is non negotiation on the speed, where in long island they may only give you 1 point and just get the money from you.
So Where's the sweet spot ? 15 over ?

When it comes to speeding citations on the freeway, 15-over is the sweet spot for me and the majority of my partners. On surface streets [absent active school zones] I would say 10-over.

Does California still set speed limits using the 85th percentile rule? New York State has never done that, so many of our speed limits are set unreasonably low.

This was a common tactic in New Yorkistan traffic courts. Request a few adjournments, hoping that the officer is a no-show when the trial comes up because of a shift rotation or reassignment.....

Yes we do! The speed surveys use the percentile rule and set speed limits based on the findings.

On the topic of speed limits, is there truth in a driver being potentially charged and arrested for going over the posted limit by a specific amount as a felony offense?

I'm pretty sure that 25 MPH over in NY State comes with an automatic reckless driving charge and handcuffs.

Back in the 1990's, I know first-hand that a certain southwestern state had a similar law. The nice officer dropped an 82 MPH in a 55 MPH zone down to 72 MPH, because we were running late to a charity/public awareness press appearance and he didn't want to cuff our driver and impound the car. Even so, the ticket included a significant state "brain injury" fine for being 15+ over.....

It's a misdemeanor here in California and falls under 23103 CVC.

North of the border, in Ontario any way. The Highway Traffic Act Stunt Driving section, 50KMH (30MPH) over the limit get's your car impounded for 14 days, a 30 day suspension of your licence and a $2K - $10K fine. These things get handed out like candy here it seems. In order to get charged criminally there has to be other elements, speed alone isn't considered Dangerous Driving a criminal offence.

If convicted there is the possibility for up to 30 days in jail, but I don't think anyone has ever been sent to jail for this offence, also at court you can have your licence suspended for an additional year besides the automatic road side suspension.

And they just ammended this law so that if you are 40KMH over the limit in a speed zone below 80KMH you will be charged.

It's similar here as well. I'm taking the car and recommending for suspension in some cases. The guy cruising along the 15 freeway to Vegas at 100 mph is different than the guy weaving in between cars and traversing multiple lanes at 100 mph.
