Sooooo glad I waited, will wait some more for LCI
Love these changes, once LCI is done, I'm going to bite, though I'm still not sure 535 or 550. Plenty of time to decide ;-)

Isn't the 5 series BMW's flagship model? At least they consider it to be their most important one—something I agree with because it's their bread and butter—and if that is the case then it is only logical that they will be bringing these innovations into the 5 and then trickle down/up to other models…

I thought the current 5 series have the Contactless opening of the tailgate already with the comfort access. The B&O system is about the same spec as the A6's, I dont know about you guys, but a $6000 audi system is too rich for me. The optional instrument gauge looks interesting, but a bit too ricey for me.

How come we have three pages without a single reference to the M3 formatted dials with a 7,000 rpm redline and efficient dynamics battery charging indicator (M3's have in the past foregone instant milage readouts)? Is this being tested in the F80 M3 or just a theme BMW want to evoke in the F10's?

These instrument configurations are just horrible. I felt like seeing screenshots of the next racing game. This is not a good direction for BMW!
I like the current combination of needles+lcd for the two central dials, but more than that is actually less, at least for a BMW. |

Personally prefer the analog cluster to this but BMW has no choice but to keep up with other automobile makers. Even a Chrysler Dart has something similar. I'm just glad BMW is offering it as an option and not pushing it down our throats.

I like the new cluster, But its not offered on the M5... and the electric steering kills it for me on the regular 5ers.
If only I could get a e92 with the interior of the 550i or the 650i, with this new cluster and B/O.... That would be the ultimate driving machine! |
