I don't know why the front reminds me of my dad's e39, which I think it's actually
pretty. IMO i think this car will looks pretty as much as most of the bmw cars are. This car seems to me that it is a combination of a little bit from e39 + a little bit of e90 + a little bit of 1-series. It might not looks as much sporty as the e60, but it still b a very nice car. |

Boring
Really boring. I'm a big fan of the current series, especially in M-form or with the M sport package. This just looks ... blah. I'll have to wait until they show it with the sports package...

Is it me or reminds me a bit to the E46 and the 3 series coupe of that time?
Like them, it may not look very aggressive, but certainly beautiful (the front). I do love the grills, not too tall (ala 7series) not too short and wide (ala Z4). Headlamps may look a bit bland, or not, we shall see in November. But as I said none discussed the beauty of the E46 and its M3 version, despite at first glance it didn't have a very aggressive looking. It's funny that now that the much criticized Bangle is gone, new critics, in the other direction, emerge... Anyway, for me actually the only critics should go to the lower part of the body, with that wide but short grill not having significant vertical dividers, which would give it a more sporty look. I guess BMW is trying to make he car look wider, but sacrificing other aspects (I would have welcomed some nice vertical fences like in the E92). PS: The rear may look great Last edited by J-Raid; 10-21-2009 at 02:28 PM.. |

that rear end profile in the second to last pic reminds me of the e90 rear profile. overall very nice looking. i was expecting some big 7er grills (i like them!) but this is cool too
and those tail lights are such a tease!! i just want to see what they look like already lol |

Looks to me like the 7 series design is trickling down on the other models. Hope it doesn't get a boring and similar like how Audi's A8 & A6 are. I can't tell the difference from afar.

You guys are crazy!
I remember all the comments when the GT photos arrived. You guys hated it. Now you like the GT but hate the new 5er. It's always gonna be like that, and you know it! We need to see this car uncovered, and give it some time, then I think you will think it's awsome. Remember when the e60 came? How many of you guys liked the e60 when it arrived??? |

i have a feeling that will be a great succes! better engines than the merc e class, a HQ interior and a lot of inovations for the pleasure of driving either rwd or awd! also a + 5% for the fuell economy!

Fail - boring, derivative, smoothed out version of the previous design, similar to the new Z4...

From what is seen here I would say that this is probably BMW's second most handsome after the new Z4. BMW have definitely turned a corner since the depart of Mr Bangle and for the better.
