That’s your preference, which is totally fine, but again, the numbers don’t lie and the majority are saying Toyota got it right and they are saying that with their wallets.

Can’t speak for other brands, but BMW EV’s are sitting on lots and dealers are desperate to give them away. All models.

Picked up my R1S in February, absolutely love it, and my Chevron bill went from 280 a month to 40-50 a month. Electric bill has not changed at all, ZERO. Drink the kool aid!

On the flip side, what have we been seeing for the past 4yrs? Prices on most ICE vehicles increasing every year, sometimes multiple times per year! There is an obvious reason for such a contrast between the two different types of vehicles and that’s demand. The demand for ICE vehicles is not only dominant, but in the past few months, it’s been growing. |

The Rivian is a great vehicle, congrats btw. But it’s another example, when you compare it’s equipment and performance it’s actually much cheaper than comparable ICE models and even with their very enticing lease and promotional offers they still sell nowhere near the amount of their ICE competitors. The demand is simply not there yet, and perhaps will never be. And let’s not forget the prices of used EVs, they are dirt cheap! Many of them lose 50% of their value in two years. So I would honestly say that EVs are currently the more affordable option. Last edited by Vmaxx; 04-09-2024 at 07:47 PM.. |

I’m betting Toyota knows more about their global customer needs than any of us here, just like BMW does. The US is very different from Europe, Africa, etc. And everyone has different needs. BEV and PHEV don’t work for my situation but if it works for you, have at it.

This collaboration reminds me of the time BMW invested in a company producing carbon fiber. BMWwas using it to build the tub for the i3/i8 and 7 series.

I often wonder if the carbon fiber used today on BMWs is still coming out of the Moses Lake plant

Sure they’re selling here and there, but gas is still king. Like most manufacturers the EV’s uptick in success has a lot to do with amazing incentives (lower APR, MF, rebates). You can lease a iX for around the same price of a X3…that’s a 40k difference in MSRP. |

Everyone laughed at Toyota for being behind the curve, L O freaking L!!! Now everyone is following them. Geez, maybe they know a thing or two about the auto market. I’ve never owned a Toyota and don’t plan to, but man, give credit where it’s due. EVs will come, don’t worry, we’ll get there. Just not quite as fast as the fanatics want. When we finally get that better cheaper battery we’ve been promised for 15+ years EVs will make sense and everyone will buy them. Until then, chill out. |

Except if you need a vehicle that has none of the many drawbacks of an EV, but still want the efficiency of an EV for daily commuting. PHEV makes perfect sense and the market seems to agree.

Tesla is dropping prices again, putting cash on the hood, and for the first time is seeing inventory. Their production is outpacing demand, and the stock market is adjusting their value.
The party’s over, kids. Too bad, I was hoping Elon would buy up some more social media! |

I’m not even murican and even I know your fed gov stopped giving a fk about Detroit long before you could buy a modern day ev Ev’s are expensive because of the high volume of rare earth minerals from around the globe, most sourced under poor humanitarian conditions, needed to build the core components |
