Hey guys I have a spare set of F80 calipers, curious if anyone had any data on whether these can be made to work on the F10 535?
(Asking for a friend)

With the rear, I suspected losing the handbrake. Was there a kit I could look at as well that is compatible for the rear if I do the delete?

As M5 calipers are effectively the same as the 550i (i.e. single piston, floating), there's no real reason to spend all the money on this IMO. Moreover, if you did the X5M calipers in the fronts and M5 calipers in the rear, your rotors are going to look VERY different. You can get cross drilled rotors for the front (from Zimmerman), but on the M5 rears the hat profile and design is different than anything you can obtain for the front. Given there is no performance benefit, a signficant cosmetic difference, and a high cost delta with M5 calipers/rotors in the rear, I don't see any reason to go that path. I'd stick with 550i calipers on the rear. Regarding your question on spacers for your front X5M calipers, I did a write up on my own install here: https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1792113. I show some pics of the spacer that I used, which is literally just a large washer. I was concerned about this spacer at first, but you should be able to to online to a hardware supply store and find a large washer that will work. Just make sure it is exactly 4mm in thickness (and obviously has a hole with a large enough diameter for the caliper mounting bolt to fit through). |

F10 M5 calipers and brackets are a direct bolt on if using the 370mm F01 750/760 rear rotors. Several have done this, myself included, check earlier in this thread for more info if interested.

If you have to use an F01 rear rotor for this, then I don't think a cross drilled option is available, at least no one made one when I did my brake conversion. I really wanted cross drilled front and rears, so that meant a 550i rear caliper was my best option. |

What Pads fit the 750760 rotors with M5 calipers/Brackets? will 750/760 pads work?

F10 M5 non-ceramic or F10 550 pads will work. The calipers are the same (brackets are the only functional difference) and their respective rotors are the same thickness and swept area as the F01 750/760 rotors. |

I did an analysis of all the known OE brake upgrades compared to the original equipment F10 braking systems, for overall braking force and front/rear bias. Posted earlier in this thread. I chose to go with the G30 4 piston/F01 760 374mm front and F10 M5/F01 750/760 370mm rear setup as it gave the closest match of F/R brake bias to the steel M5 brakes, which I assume is as much rear-bias as BMW was comfortable putting into the F10 chassis. My calculations assume the same coefficient of friction used for both front and rear brake pads, which I realize is a BIG assumption, but that data is unknown so we can only use what we have. |

I finally got around to upgrading the rear calipers and brakes on my F10 535dx, to complete the full F01 750i front & rear brake conversion.
F01 750i Front Calipers 374mm Zimmerman Rotors Akebono Brake Pads Stainless Braided Lines F10 550i Rear Calipers w/M5 Carriers 370mm Zimmerman Rotors Akebono Brake Pads Motul RBF600 Dot 4 Brake Fluid Fills up my Volk Bronze 21inch OEM BMW Style 128 really nice! Next thing to do is to powder coat the calipers. |

This thread is super helpful. Just picked up a 15 F10 550i and definitely want to upgrade the calipers / brake lines.
Found someone local to get G30 front calipers and a set of M5 rear calipers, will get the 760li 370mm front and rear Zimmermann rotors and run some ceramic pads (he has the oem brembo ceramics hah). Question is what wheel spacer I'll need for the front given the prior owner (fellow forum member) put on 5mm spacers with 343m wheels. Has anyone run this setup? Appreciate Unspec suggesting 7.5mm but would like to confirm before starting to order everything. Also anything sound off at all? Thanks as always. |

Have a look earlier in the thread to see clearance of the G30 calipers. Both myself and Unspec did it. He has 343M and I have 408M which are both M5 wheels with (assuming) similar spoke profiles.
My 408M will clear without spacers after machining the calipers, but I can’t confirm for the 343M. 343M are already a good fit without spacers IMO. Spacers may cause poke depending on your tire choice. |

X5M Calipers Powdercoated
Hi Guys,
I just got my calipers back and powdercoat guy documented the process for his Youtube Channel. Check it out! E70 X5M Fronts, M5 Rears. Prismatic Powder Heavy Silver Base, Peeka Blue topcoat, finished with clear. Logos are powdercoated! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmNlAJ_m70k I sent all calipers to him disassembled and kept the pistons with me. I just got them back in the mail and started putting them back together today with a rebuild kit for seals and dust boots. I didn't notice when I took them apart, but one of my caliper pistons has a ding in it the size of a ballpoint pen tip like it was struck with a piece of metal after disassembly or while i was taking them out. It had a sharp edge you could feel by finger and it wouldn't go back in the caliper. I touched it with a rotary tool and it took the edge off, but there is a pit beneath the surface. It's tiny but I don't want to risk it not sealing. The spot is slightly smaller than the width of the inner seal. I can't for the life of me find a replacement piston online!! Can someone help point me in the right direction for a Brembo M4.42 caliper 42mm replacement piston? It is from a 2012 X70 X5M. TIA!

Crossover brake line
So I was painting a set of G11 calipers and one of them fell off the hanger crushing the crossover tube. Of course BMW doesn't sell this line separately... Anyone have any ideas on where to source this?
I am usually all for buying tools but I would rather not buy a tubing bender and flaring kit that I will likely only use once or twice. |

As you have found, BMW do not sell the line as a consumable part. This is frankly idiotic when other OEM’s such as Porsche make their hard lines orderable as separate parts from the calipers. Your only option is to have one made up and hope that you can match the OEM contours so that it doesn’t like a mess! |
