We have started our 30+ degree drop that will take place over the next 12-18 hours. We’ll get down to about 30 with feel like temps around 20. Should gradually warm up over a few days but very unusual for it to get that cold here. Farmers have been working on protecting citrus crops

30 degrees in Florida is a special kind of cold. Goes right to the bones.
Been at the Rolex 24 a few times and it feels colder than 15 degrees up here in the frozen North. We have had temps of actual air temp down to -10 F. Got a foot of snow last week, then every night we get 1/2” to 2” on top. It’s getting hard to snowblow the drive cause there is nowhere to shoot the snow. |

I don't have a camera down at our tree farm in the SC Midlands, but the radar is showing lots of snow and my remote weather station is reading an incredibly cold 22 F temperature right now. The forecast is for 8-12 inches by tomorrow morning, which is a "historic" snowfall for that region.
Our overnight low here in upstate NY last night was only -1 F...warmer than forecast because clouds moved in and capped the radiational cooling.....

Did enjoy the sunshine we had yesterday. Actually got out and did a bit of grocery shopping. Reached a high of 16, the sun sure helped make it feel a bit warmer.
Today, cold and cloudy, 12 degrees with a low of 4(-8 wind chill) tonight. Promises of a warm up starting tomorrow with highs in the low to mid 20's for the next 5-6 days. Really been a wild winter season so far, our locale had it's first snow fall November 9th and had a total of 6 inches total for the month and approximately 20 inches total for the month of December. While we did have a couple days of 50 degree weather in November and December that manged to melt all previous snow. As of January 30, 2026, the Youngstown/Warren Regional Airport in Trumbull County recorded 38.6 inches of snow since December 1, 2025, highlighted by the major winter storm during the weekend of January 24-25 that dumped 6–13+ inches of snow in our region. I'm so damn tired of winter 🤬

We got about 7-8” over the past 30 hours; done now. Cold, so very powdery. I cleared off part of the deck and front entry with my leaf blower. Area is just not equipped to deal with this, so roads are still very poor - we’re effectively snowed in.

Woke up to 30 degrees and very sunny in South Florida this morning. Wind gusts up to 30 mph. Looking outside at palm trees whipping around and wondering how long the dogs can hold it before I need to take them out.

Tried to venture back out today. Skating rink. I’ve got some capable vehicles, but nothing is a match for the ice. Watched multiple vehicles slipping around - myself included. Could see marks all over and see where some folks hit some trees but had been recovered.
We stuck. |

Notice in the background my snow blower "dog path" around the house... Ripley ( bischon/shitzu mix) ain't having anything to do with it.. Open the slider.. he goes onto the deck.. does his business and back in he comes. Too freaking cold..

I took them out. No snow here, obviously, but our two seem to like being out longer when it gets chilly here or when we are in NC and it is cold.

No rain until early morning following day, so ideal to take our pooch out for a brisk walk later on with a dry sidewalk.

Our forecast low here in the lower Catskills was forecast to be +2 F last night. As I write this at 7:00 AM, it's currently -10 F! Not only a new low for 2026, but cold enough where our baseboard hot water can't keep up with the cold and our well pipe into the house has apparently frozen solid.....

Got down to the same... -23.5C(-10.3F) this morning.
We have some patchy freezing fog going on. It clings to the trees and crystalizes, looks pretty awesome when seen from a warm automobile. ![]() Edit: Eager to see what the groundhogs think of this weather. ![]() So far: Punxsutawney Phil (PA) says 6 more weeks. Shubencadie Sam (NS) got snowed in and cancelled the event (early spring by default) Lucy the Lobster (NS) did not see a shadow either (lol @ lobster). Fred la Marmotte (QC) says early spring. ~36% record. Wiarton Willie (ON) early spring. He has a poor record ~30%. Manitoba Merv (MB) says 6 more weeks. He has an excellent record ~72%. He's a puppet and not a groundhog. Balzac Billy (AB) says 6 weeks. ~42% record. Also just a dude in a groundhog costume. Van Island Violet (BC) says 6 weeks. This was our yard here in FL this morning
![]() Ok fine... that's NC but it felt that cold here this morning. It was 29F this morning and 28F yesterday morning. At the NC house I have never seen that much snow in the last 5 years we've owned it. Also the fact that it's staying on the ground. The couple times it has snowed it's pretty much gone the next day. |
