Spotted 4 more GT's in around the Miami area this week. Contrary to recent commentary seems like more GT's than ever are on the road now...hmmm

550i GT Black Sapphire Metallic w/ Ivory White and Black Nappa Leather, Cold Weather Package, Sport Package, DVDinMotion software, and the Dinan Software Upgrade...you know, for better gas mileage. My darling use to be my 1987 V8 LS4 Pontiac Fiero, but since I got the GT, it's spent most of it's time in the garage!
Come'on...if others can't appreciate the "beauty & the beast" vibe this ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE provides, you should have your passion meter checked. Last edited by blkcofy; 07-16-2011 at 04:32 PM.. |

Welcome Blkcofy and BruceFerjulian! Nice GT's you guys have. Some consider us Outlaws
Blkcofy - don't spill your coffee, as 573 ft lbs causes things to move around a bit

I picked up an Arctic White 535i GT x-drive in Munich in April...Performance center in June, and now have about 2K miles on it. On the trip from SC to home I averaged over 30mpg. So far, like the car. See my thread on 'First BMW, European Delivery' some more comments.

Just picked up a 535 black saphire and black dakota GT. Sport, convience, sound, nav, heated seats, ceramic. Coming from a Tiag/black, 2008 loaded 335 x6. GT is a very different car. More luxo- less sporty. Great interior, so-so looks. X6 got looks and inquires all the time. Milage way better on GT 17-30 as opposed to 14-20. Acceleration seems the same. X6, you sit way up high. Hard to get in and out of No grab handles! Love my x6 but it loved being in the shop. Let's hope the new turbo and fuel pump designs, keeps it from constant repairs. My friend with a silver GT gave me a ride and that convinced me. It wasw a toss up with the new A7. BMW made a much better deal. They all want very close to MSRP for A&. A7 is smaller inside, but great nav screen, good looking car to boot. Gonna give BMW a run for their money. Cheap

Very late for posting, but I had a 535GT last year for about 4 months and I enjoyed it. Backing it was at times a pain, but the backup camera came in handy!

Picked up a 2011 550i GT with everything but the lane assistance and heads up. Dark graphite metallic with black dakota leather. Rear luxury seat package. Love it. Just can't get my wife out of the drivers seat.

BTW: As I am sure you have found out already, the back seat of the GT is everybit as nice as the front - especially so with the Rear Seat Luxury Package On the rare occasion that I sit in the back of my GT I am not at all dissapointed

I will post picks as soon as I get a chance. 1 week and 1500 miles. I love this car. And I did get to ride in the back the other day. Really nice. Much more comfortable than my 04 745i.

Irish 530d GT
June 2010 530d GT, Damask Red/Black, Dynamic pack etc. 34k km to date. Generally very pleased with this car despite it's undoubted bulk. Not as agile as my previous 530d M-Sport but significantly more comfortable on longer journeys. Width of car can be a problem on narrow Irish roads/streets. Looks are undoubtedly controversial, commentators generally either love it or hate it with very few opinions in between.

Pgar171, I'm curious about the perception of the car in the US. As I understand it the general consensus in America is that it's rather ungainly in the looks department. Conversely the style is loved in Europe. It hasn't been a big hit here in Mexico either.
optima99, your tagline says visit Ireland so I will. Going to Dublin a week tomorrow then off to the Ring of Kerry with layovers in Limerick and Tralee for the dog shows. Any suggestions for must-see's? |

However on this side of the pond their is no"true" competitor. No matter what's said the A7 is not a true rival to the GT. All you have do is go over to the F10 board and see how much back and forth discussion there is on the F10 vs A6 vs. MB-Eclass vs. Jag XF, etc..... We really don't have that issue as this car is usually purchased by people who know exactly what they want, and are satisfied in their purchase. Look, at the end of the day the haters can/will call it whatever they want, but if you take a poll, you'll find that the majority of GT'ers are very pleased with their purchase - me included
