I can't wait to get better audio and some logs. Even if this only gains one horsepower, I'd do it just out of principle. It just makes more sense. And, it looks like fun. |

Quick Question.... Why follow the path of up and 180 back down? I put that in red. Can you not go over and out? I marked that with blue. You'd obviously have to extend your wires and or vents to reach down there... but is there anything physically preventing that from happening?

Right now it's in the side but no filter just a metal mesh as a filter. I couldn't get the pipe to turn into the opening. I have to cut the pipe or use something more pliable like silicone.

I had my AC condenser changed and had a lot of shit out for it. There is no reason I saw why it can't go as BrowBMW mentioned and I am contemplating doing it like that instead of the U pipe. I think BMW doubles just chose that pipe as it was an easy one to do the mod with. All I see from turbo inlet pipe to side grill is open space. |

The other limiting reason for a stage 2 is I would have to create a custom inlet too. Maybe AZ-MCRacer and I colab on a project 🤷🏻

Where are you sourcing your silicone bends/runs? https://www.intakehoses.com/ Could you suck silicone so hard that it would collapse? I'm sure it depends on how many ply it is, but just curious. EDIT: Ok, did some digging and I think I'm going to get an extra stock turbo intake pipe and hack it off and simply use it for the connection on the trubo side. Then I can run this in full silicone, add a 4" aluminum section for sensors/vents, and follow the blue path I laid out up above. I'll wrap the 4" aluminum section all the way down to the turbo with exhaust wrap. Five ply silicone handles 350 degrees continuously so between the wrap and the airflow internally inside the intake, I doubt it'll melt. Maybe I'll order an extra one just in case. This is killing 2 birds with one stone by opening up the flow on the intake and shortening the intake flow. Last edited by BimmerHausPerformance; 09-20-2019 at 03:25 PM.. |

Thanks! You have motivated me to get this done for sure. Question: For the vent that doesn't have a sensor on it, what would happen if you vented it to the atmosphere? Other than inspection issues and pissing off environmentalists, of course...

Fuel vent I'm not sure if you can vent to atmosphere. I don't believe so though because there's a sensor on the fuel valve near the hpfp that it connects to. Crankcase vent has a sensor however $howtime456 was able to bypass check with him on that. Obviously MAF do what it do. GoPro video happening this weekend. Spending some time with it now and it's bonkers. It's so loud on the purge people think I have a BOV. Remember I also have a GFB dv+ that holds for longer at high boost so purge is very loud when I let off. Also it only sounds loud when I get on it. It's not like that when you drive normal. So with my burbles set to only pop over 3600rpm and BOV sounds happening only when I'm really trying to make the car go, it's still a sleeper.

Can't wait to hear it! Also, did you do a write-up or give your thoughts on your GFB dv+? Looks pretty cool.

I think if you're not pushing more than 17-18psi for a street application, a stock dv should be good. There's not many stories about the N55 diaphragm tearing on OTS, piggybacks or custom tunes. Than the other part is will 17-18 hold to the top without the upgrade spring that you get with GFB 🤷🏻
Hopefully it's not this problem

I might consider this as I'm going E85 map on MHD stage 2+ which I heard can hit about 20 psi. Plus if this intake helps the turbo spool with less restriction, it might be helpful.
Where are the videos of the intake! FYI, I found your youtube videos when I was googling some different f10 things. |

Target boost on MHD 2+ is 18.5 based on what I've seen on some logs, and upgraded inlet plumbing isn't something they mention, but something to upgrade either way...
But back to the thread... Where are the GoPro videos already, we are getting off-topic! |

You might hit 20psi or 18.5 but for maybe 1k rpm and fall down to 13 or 14psi. You won't hold that boost and after 5300rpm that power will just fall flat on its face.

Subscribing to this thread because I was going to buy a K&N intake to replace my BMS (gets so dirty).
