ohhhh that must hurt ....in London we have too many speed humps to reduce your speed going down a road..but in my perspective it does more damage to your suspension and car body, espicially if lowered. Who evers car that is must be gutted..i know i would!

I am investigating the springs+dampers right now too
now thinking just changing springs on my standard spec might not be the best, something about the dampers should be 'tuned' with the springs ...
so might go whole m sport springs+dampers or after mkt set ..
but need to find out more about how springs+dampers work

RD has separate springs for adaptive drive and not.

RD, Eibach and HnR all have springs specifically for the AD and not.
AD and M sport suspension is not compatible, cuz they are different system. M sport suspensions are beefed up normal suspension, and AD is electronically controlled.

Aren't RD springs specifically for adaptive drive also beefed up normal suspension?

Yes all of them have springs for both applications, while RD gives u less drop compare to the others.

That I'm not technical enough to answer.
May be they are of different stiffness, strength, etc....

i was wondering that too .. on realo*m there is no data on springs, but u can see how the shock +add.damper differ across the models / m susp/ adaptive

we dont know if the 10mm lower on adaptive is due to the spring, housing, or add.damper..

but at least we know the spring doesnt change and all variability in ride on adaptive is due to the adaptive shock

btw anyone with any clue if bmwhk will offer m-suspension, and ballpark price?

Any info on whether the springs in a F10 with adaptive drive are the same as that in a F10 with the standard suspension? Presumably not, from the above posts?

Garage List
Just added some pictures with my f10 sitting in the garage on page 1. Check them out!

I also took the car out for a "spirited" spin tonight around the Hong Kong Island.
Route: Hong Kong Club building (Central)->Western District via Connaught Rd C.
->Cyberport
->Aberdeen
->Repulse Bay
->Stanley
->Shek O
->Tai Koo Sing via Island Eastern Corridor
->Causeway Bay
->Garden Road

The route has windy sections, highway sections, up and downhills to sort of get a feel on how the car handles and fuel consumption. Entire journel in Sport mode with gear on the left (S mode). Didn't go above 4K RPM and was driving aggressively (but not too agressive).

General feeling is that the car is a luxury cruiser first and sport cruiser second. Wife feels very comfortable and mentioned that the ride comfort is almost MB S class like. Suspension is definitely a bit soft. At bumpy sections, I can definitely feel the cushioned bouncing up and down. So seems an upgrade of the shocks are definitely in order.
Surprising, although I can feel the weight of the car, there isn't much body roll at cornering at all.

I only drove most of the windy roads at speeds of ~70km/h, going up to 85km/h on some stretch. Car feels comfortable and steering is tight. But there is a difference between tight steering and connected steering. I can't tell what the tyres are doing grip-wise and that's a bit discerning at first, coming from an AMG C55. It just takes some getting used to. But the car takes every turn very well and I am pleasantly surprised. Must be something to do with the IAS.....

On the power front, there's an abundant amount of power when you need it in sport mode. I haven't came across a car on the route that i couldn't keep up with and that route at night has plenty of TTs, Skylines, and the likes. So not a problem at all. C55 power delivery was way more instantenous but then, that's a sport/track car and the F10 is a luxury cruiser. So not a very good comparison, though.

There were quite a few road blocks and police on the stretch so didn't really push the car. So had a very enjoyable ride instead. Was thinking about really going at it. Maybe one of my sleepless night will try that at 3am next time.....

All in all, great comfortable car. More than capable handling itself in "spirited" driving. But if you are looking for a track vehicle, look else where. Or maybe the M5.......

Great looking car my friend!
So if I see a fast F10 going thru the southern area, I would know who that is!

Glad to know that you love the ride, I'm still babying my car but I think I'm being too gentle. Lol.

Thanks, Kfiend. I haven't really pushed my F10 partly also because the tyres are new Can wait until all the toys are installed and will take some more pictures

Cool ride, mlai.

You got your OEM CF Rear Spoiler installed? Hard to tell as the photos is a bit dark.

That's right. The way I wanted. More subtle instead of loud......

adaptive drive

In the military station in Germany; adative drive is more for high speed driving and to keep the car level on curves and to soak up bumps on bad roads at high speeds; I have driven the 535, 550, and 528 on and off autobahn. Whats I notice at speeds over 120 mph with adaptive drive is that the cars firms up and while going into or arounds curves the car feels more balance or level in curves and I did not fill the body roll like I did in the cars without adapitve drive; in city driving the cars feels the same only different is that in sport or sport plus the car with adaptive drive in sports mode has a more like what we say in the Army; a pep to its step.
I have had a lot of authbahn time in all three cars and they are all exceptional cars; I orderd a 535i space grey; cinnimon interior, head up display, conv package, premium 1&2 and sports package due for delivery in December.

I felt that 'bouncy up and down' feeling today .. it happens on vertical plane .. not like body roll on turns when one side of the body goes up and the other down
-is this due to springs/dampers/sway(antirolll)bar anyone know?
i would think body roll in turns is due to springs+sway, . correct or not?
so what is causing the 'bouncing up and down'? in hk we feel this mostly on flyovers where the road construction is unever over short intervals
i agree, even on my stock susp body roll is not the most pressing issue .. the wallowing up and down is

also agree on the steering, it becomes more 'tight' but is not 'connected' .. u do not know what is happening where the car contacts the road through the tire .. kinda like the car will listen to you 100%, but it wont tell u how its feeling
i think handling improves in those twisties with IAS, on my non-IAS because the car is so long, i feel i have to time the entry and exit on each turn, its demanding

interesting..
so is it the variable anti-roll bar thats helping on the autobahn turns?
how does it respond on sharp, short turns like on mountain roads?
im trying to figure out how to upgrade my stock susp w/o adaptive drive..
any comment on the springs or dampers?
im feeling the springs r the major problem area on mine, trying to tighten up the up-and-down wallowing ..
good luck with your car!

why r the rd springs twice the price of other springs?
i am getting convinced by you ..10mm is too little , i think i can accept 25mm
my wheel well seems to be growing or something
should i keep stock dampers?
