I have a 2013 F10. Installed an Avin unit a few months ago and did NOT have to run an aux cable to the center console.

Worth it
I have the 12" Avin display installed in my 2013 F10. While it's not perfect, I feel its a worthwhile upgrade. I mainly use it for Android Auto. I encounter some odd behaviors here and there and the steering wheel controls don't work correctly in AA. The larger screen and huge step forward in tech make it worth it to me.

DO you feel as though the interface is as smooth as how the original was or is there a big of a lag? I'm quite worried that it will be slow and sluggish. |

Does anyone know if this same size the 12.3 inch screen will fit my 2012 F07 550Gt? I can't imagine it wouldn't because the F10 M7 is the same car roughly speaking. Built on the same platform. So I can;t imaging it wouldnt fit?

Dude I would just buy a Samsung Tab and install that, I had the Android Headunit and paid £600 for it but its not worth the price for the issues that come with it.

Hi guys,
thanks for all the valuable information here - interested in the Android HU as well but not 100% sure it will do the trick for me. I have in my 2014 550ix the OEM Bang&Olufsen sound system - has anyone installed the Android HU and has B&O as well? Any quality issues withit or has the sound quality even improved? Have as well the OEM surround view and rear cam. How does that work with the Android HU? Does it show the surround view only on the OEM screen / on both /only on Android side? I am still puzzled with the mic and the speakers - what do i have to install when I want to use the mic for speach recognition on both sides? Understood that the OEM GPS antenna can be used - for that the OEM GPS antenna has to be connected to the Android HU and from there a cable get routed to the plug where initially the OEM GPS antenna was connected - did I get that right? Hope you can shed some light. Lars |

Anyone find their Android HU has way too much bass? My OEM stereo sounds great, but when switching to the Android unit the bass is crazy boosted. I can tone it down with the bass control on the Android, but it doesn't seem to attenuate the entire range that's boosted, leaving some songs sounding still very bass heavy.
I have the newer Android 11 12.3 model from 4x4 Shop (Avin USA) on factory HK stereo. |

Sorry don't track these forums much. Update on my end nearly a year and half later or however many months....still functions exactly as it did new for me. Meanwhile my OEM Bluetooth is being dumb and randomly not playing audio.but I just switch to Android auto and ignore it lol. Screen is still great. Still attached. No glitches or issues. Added a sub to trunk via technic harness. Changed all speakers to aftermarket, etc still sounds amazing either Bluetooth when it works. Aux on console or AA.

CIC vs NBT
After researching countless thread I am reading that if you have NBT you do not need to plug in the aux portion in the arm rest.
Some 2013 have CIC other 2013 have NBT 2014 and up all have NBT so no need to plug in aux I have a 2012 which has CIC and I believe I need to tuna wire from the center console and plug into the aux port in the arm east area. Anyone have any suggestions on how to hide this wire and what the cleanest method of install may be? |
